Job description

The Administrative Assistant provides a full range of administrative support for attorneys and professional staff of Events DC's Office of the General Counsel.ย The work is varied and highly confidential and the Administrativeย Assistantย isย expectedย toย becomeย familiarย withย andย involvedย inย theย function and responsibilities of the Office of the General Counsel. The Administrative Assistant reports directly to the General Counsel and the VP & Deputy General Counsel.

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and three (3) years of progressivelyย responsibleย experienceย inย aย lawย firmย orย inย aย governmentย orย corporate legal department; OR
  • Highย schoolย diplomaย orย equivalentย andย fiveย (5)ย yearsย ofย progressivelyย responsible experience in a law firm or in a government or corporate legal department; OR
  • Anyย equivalent combinationย ofย experience,ย trainingย and/orย education.
  • Proficiencyย withย MSย Officeย Suiteย toย includeย Word,ย Excel,ย Accessย andย PowerPoint.
  • Familiarityย withย legalย researchย toolsย (e.g.,ย Westlaw,ย Lexis).
  • Provides assistance to attorneys and staff.ย Drafts correspondence, memoranda, presentations and reports for review and approval by attorneys, adhering as applicableย toย uniformย standardsย ofย theย legalย profession.ย Asย requested,ย proofreads work of attorneys and staff.
  • Tracksย and manages the operationalย budgetย ofย theย Officeย ofย theย Generalย Counselย .
  • Performsย procurement-relatedย tasksย onย behalfย ofย theย Officeย ofย theย Generalย Counsel including entering requisitions and processing vendor invoices. Serves as liaison between Office of the General Counsel, the Office of Contract and Procurement Servies (OCPS) and the Financial Management Division (FMD) to ensure policies and procedures are adhered to.
  • Assists with Events DC's risk management program and insurance portfolio. Coordinatesย annualย insuranceย renewalย processย includingย gatheringย informationย from various departments and completing applications.
  • Arrangesย travelย reservations andย itinerariesย forย theย attorneys andย staff ofย theย Officeย of the General Counsel and completes expense reports, credit card reconciliations and other travel-related administrative requirements.
  • Developsย andย maintainsย properย indexing,ย filingย andย case/clientย managementย system for the Office of the General Counsel.
  • Screensย telephoneย callsย andย visitors,ย andย implementsย knowledgeย ofย policies, procedures, and operations within scope of responsibility, or refers to the appropriate staff member.
  • Interfacesย withย Boardย members,ย Eventsย DCย staff,ย customersย andย government officials.
  • Maintainsย aย comprehensiveย understandingย ofย Eventsย DC'sย policies,ย procedures,ย and the various business units' methods of operation to conduct duties and responsibilities effectively and efficiently.
  • Maintainsย utmostย securityย andย professionalismย andย usesย discretionย whenย dealing with confidential materials and information.
