Job description

POSITION: Network Technician Intern

DEPARTMENT: Event Technology Services

REPORTS TO: IT Manager

FLSA STATUS: Hourly/Non-Exempt

LOCATION: Salt Palace Convention Center & Mountain America Expo Center

Summary

Legends Global, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities, has an excellent and immediate opening for a Network Technician Intern for Legends Global/Salt Palace Convention Center. Under the guidance of the Director of Event Technology and IT Manager, the network technician will install, maintain, upgrade, repair, and troubleshoot the network systems at the Salt Palace Convention Center. Additionally, they will install event network and telephone services and provide onsite customer support for these services.

The internship is designed to provide practical, realworld exposure to networking concepts, customer support, and event technology operations while working alongside experienced IT and event technicians.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Installation and support of temporary event services including wired and wireless services, VLANs, point-to-point connections and telephone services.
  • Assist event clients in setup and usage of ordered services such as configuring PC's, Laptops, iPads, and other devices for Internet access.
  • Maintain IT systems including HPE/Aruba, FortiNet, Verkada, ABI, Cisco (Telephone), and satellite services.
  • Maintain Internet and network services for in-house partners (Sodexo, Encore, ABM/Flashpark, Visit Salt Lake).
  • Perform other duties or projects as assigned.

Experience & Knowledge

  • Basic understanding of computer networking and Internet concepts.
  • Ability to operate a personal computer and small tools used in the installation, maintenance of IT systems.
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills
  • A willingness to keep up to date with developments in new technology.
  • Ability to interact with management, co-workers, clients, exhibitors, and attendees.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently, prioritizing and accurately completing them on time in a potentially stressful environment.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required. A college degree or current pursuit of a degree with an emphasis in an IT field is preferred.
  • Must be able to commute to facilities either independently or by local transit.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Effective oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Evening and weekend hours will be required as needed by events.

Job Type: 12 Month part-time internship term, approximately 30 hours or less per week

Wage Range: $21-23/per hour

Schedule: Sunday-Saturday, Flexible Start/End Times, Evening & Weekend Availability Required
