Job Title: Setup Technician Machining and Assembly
Job Summary
The Set-Up Technician (SUT) proactively ensures the quality of products through proper set up of machines and tools. The SUT engages in safety leadership throughout the department and ensures company safety protocols are being observed. The successful Setter needs to exhibit a sense of ownership and urgency over department production and maintaining equipment while ensuring processes and procedures are being followed in order to produce quality products. The ideal SUT needs to possess sound understanding of machines and machining principles. Additionally, the SUT must be able to read machining prints, use various measurement equipment, recover equipment and have a working knowledge of robotics. The SUT will assist, and train other operators as needed, demonstrate problem-solving capabilities and utilize company resources to maintain required production levels.
Responsibility
  • Assist shift supervisor in the day-to-day activities of production operation while achieving set production targets.
  • Machine set-up and operation including tool changes, setting work offsets, and recovering machines from alarm stages.
  • Thorough understanding of all operations on the line.
  • Assist with workstation assignments and rotations.
  • Instructs and assists other team members and serves as a back-up for absences and shift rotations.
  • Coordinate production startups, shutdowns, and changeovers.
  • Communicate precise instructions to safety procedures and operation of machinery.
  • Ensure proper flow of raw materials for smooth operations.
  • Formulate production output report to supervisors.
  • Manage and monitor operators including the following of work instruction, meeting production targets, supporting tool changes, etc.).
  • Suggest new concepts and ideas for improvements.
  • Keep records and transmit information to appropriate personnel.
  • Actively contribute toward a safe working environment.
  • Balance productivity goals while maintaining quality products and services.
  • Responsible for quality control.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Academic/Educational Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent.
Required Skills/Experience
  • Ability to operate and troubleshoot machines and equipment.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing process of assembly and machining.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting when needed.
  • Ability to learn new specifications and procedures through on-the-job training and experience.
  • Able to communicate both verbally and written forms to various levels within the organization
