Event Risk information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Event Risk Manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Event Risk Manager, you need expertise in risk assessment, crisis management, and event planning, often supported by a degree in risk management or a related field. Familiarity with risk analysis software, incident management systems, and relevant certifications such as Certified Special Events Professional (CSEP) is highly valuable. Strong communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills help you coordinate effectively under pressure and ensure stakeholder confidence. These skills are crucial for proactively identifying, mitigating, and managing risks to ensure safe and successful events.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals in Event Risk roles, and how can they be managed effectively?

Professionals in Event Risk roles often face challenges such as rapidly changing circumstances, unexpected incidents, and ensuring all stakeholders are adequately informed and prepared. Managing these challenges requires strong communication, thorough risk assessments, and contingency planning. Collaborating closely with event planners, security teams, and vendors is essential to anticipate potential issues and implement effective mitigation strategies. Continuous monitoring during events and conducting post-event reviews also help improve future risk management practices.

What are event risk professionals?

Event risk professionals are specialists who identify, assess, and manage potential risks associated with events, such as conferences, festivals, or corporate gatherings. Their role includes analyzing possible threats—like safety hazards, financial losses, or reputational damage—and developing strategies to mitigate these risks. They work closely with event planners, security teams, and insurance providers to ensure that events run smoothly and safely. By proactively addressing potential issues, event risk professionals help protect attendees, organizers, and stakeholders from unforeseen problems.

Based on client needs, occasional travel for meetings and events will be required.

Following the sales cycle, you will take ownership of new customer implementations, working closely with clients to configure the platform to meet their requirements and ensure smooth onboarding and delivery. As part of a cross-functional team, you will collaborate closely with sales and product colleagues and contribute to business growth by meeting objectives across presales, configuration, and onboarding. ProSight’s strong brand and leading market position in a rapidly evolving compliance landscape provide significant opportunities for sales growth.

Responsibilities
  • Partner with Account Managers to drive revenue by demonstrating how the ERC SaaS platform solves complex business challenges.
  • Lead and support discovery sessions with prospects to understand workflows, requirements, and success criteria.
  • Prepare and deliver tailored product demonstrations using client-specific data, configurations, and realistic use cases.
  • Articulate technical and functional value propositions aligned to client business outcomes.
  • Design and deliver proofs of concept (PoCs) and pilot projects to validate solution fit.
  • Support RFPs, RFIs, and security questionnaires with accurate, high-quality technical input.
  • Configure demo and client environments, including minor UI and workflow adjustments, to reflect real-world client needs.
  • Provide structured feedback from prospects and clients to Product Management to inform roadmap and improvements.
  • Address technical objections and articulate competitive differentiation within the GRC market landscape.
  • Actively engage with engineering teams to gain a working knowledge of technology capabilities and limitations and obtain detailed answers to more complex questions.
  • Support post-sale handover and early implementation to ensure smooth onboarding and solution alignment.
  • Assist with scoping, Statements of Work, and clear definition of requirements for implementation teams.
  • Continuously develop domain expertise in GRC frameworks, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Perform other duties as may be required or assigned.

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a presales, solution consulting, or client-facing role within a SaaS or enterprise software environment.
  • Strong understanding of Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) concepts, or demonstrated ability to rapidly develop domain expertise.
  • Experience partnering with sales teams in B2B environments to support solution selling and drive new business.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Comfort engaging with senior client stakeholders and leading discovery and requirements-gathering discussions.
  • Experience preparing Statements of Work, scoping documents, or similar presales deliverables.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across sales, product, and implementation teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to operate independently in a self-directed role.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for client meetings, workshops, and industry events.
  • Technologically savvy, with extensive use of the Microsoft Office suite and ability to learn and demonstrate proprietary systems
  • Demonstrated high-energy, tenacity and dedication to excellence as a sales engineer professional
