Essential Job Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Develop and implement strategies to attract youth and amateur sporting events to Reno
  • Identify prospective clients including tournament directors, sports associations, leagues, governing bodies, schools, clubs, and event promoters
  • Generate new business through prospecting, networking, industry events, and relationship building
  • Respond to Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and prepare competitive bids and presentations
  • Conduct site tours for prospective event organizers
  • Negotiate facility usage, rental agreements, and event terms
  • Maintain an active sales pipeline and accurately forecast future business
  • Meet or exceed annual sales goals for booked events, facility utilization, and hotel room night production
  • Serve as the primary contact throughout the event booking process
  • Coordinate facility availability, scheduling, and event calendars
  • Work closely with facility management to maximize venue utilization
  • Ensure contracts, permits, insurance certificates, and required documentation are completed
  • Coordinate scheduling of practices, competitions, ceremonies, and ancillary events
  • Represent the organization at trade shows, conferences, tournaments, and networking events
  • Promote Reno as a premier youth sports destination
  • Assist with developing promotional materials for sports facilities
  • Coordinate digital and social media promotion of sporting events
  • Work with marketing teams on advertising campaigns targeting sports organizations
  • Participate in familiarization (FAM) tours and client hospitality events

Skills, Education and Other Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of experience in sports sales, destination marketing, event management, hospitality, or venue management
  • Experience working with youth or amateur sporting events preferred
  • Experience selling tournaments, championships, or sporting events highly desirable
  • Knowledge of sports tourism and event operations preferred
  • Strong sales, negotiation, and closing skills
  • Excellent customer service and relationship-building abilities
  • Outstanding organizational and project management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple events and priorities simultaneously
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong presentation and public speaking abilities
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM systems
  • Ability to analyze sales data and prepare reports
  • Knowledge of event management software is a plus
