Job Title: Program Assistant – Restored Creations

Exempt/Non-Exempt: Non-Exempt

Position Summary:

The Program Assistant works with the guests of Wheeler Mission programs alongside our Case Managers to ensure all elements of programs are completed. This position collaborates with Restored Creations, our candle-making social enterprise run by long-term program participants, to assist with various tasks and activities that promote the success of our guests. This position will work 20-24 hours with Restored Creations. Collaborates across teams.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Brief description of duties in order of priority

Daily Resident Support: Assists with the daily operation of Restored Creations and creates a welcoming environment with a focus on: 

  • Providing training in all aspects of production of Restored Creations products
  • Answering questions and assisting with helping solve routine problems.
  • Listening to the guests and assisting as appropriate or escalating concerns to the program manager or other managers.
  • Resolving conflicts and serves as a calming influence by using a Biblical model and de-escalation techniques.
  • Assisting Program Manager with evening and weekend activities including transportation of guests to events, and activities using a Wheeler vehicle.
  • Assisting with special events and other program duties as assigned.

Group Facilitation: Assists with program elements to support the spiritual and practical needs of guests:

  • Leads devotions and prayer
  • Helps with skill development
  • Models the skills we are teaching our guests.

Administrative Responsibilities: Performs a wide variety of administrative tasks to support the program operations which includes:

  • Conduct pre- and post- assessments for every guest as the enter/graduate program
  • Track guest training hours and accurately document/report hours.
  • Participation in daily, weekly, and other regular program meetings.
  • Completing paperwork, incident reports, answering email, and keeping on top of required reporting.
  • Maintaining product and supplies inventory, ensuring managers know when supplies need to be ordered and seeing that no item is out of stock.
  • Oversees fulfillment of online and retail orders.
  • Making deliveries to retailers and online orders to the post office/UPS.
  • Overseeing production and quality control to ensure Restored Creations products are made with high integrity and quality.
  • Communicating in a timely manner with supervisors; skilled in written and verbal communication.

                                                         

Other: This position will often require flexibility. The Program Assistant may be required to serve in other areas of the ministry when needs arise.

 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Experience:

  • Familiarity with the Wheeler Mission program focus and our guests’ experiences strongly preferred.
  • 1+ years of successful, recent work experience, demonstrating dependability and strong work ethic.
  • Ability to be flexible for different shifts, work hours, or occasional weekends as needed.
  • Demonstrated desire to learn, grow and develop in previous roles and situations.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn software systems that support role and WM operations.
  • 1+ years general experience in a non-profit program department, preferred.
  • Experience with addiction support, mental health issues, and trauma support, preferred.

Physical Requirements:

To perform the essential job functions of this position, a candidate must be capable of performing many physical functions including: 

  1. Walking short distances with the ability to ascend and descend stairs.
  2. Physical dexterity sufficient to type and operate standard office equipment.
  3. Physical ability to perform normal office functions with the endurance to remain standing for long periods of time.
  4. Strength to lift office supplies and equipment up to 40 pounds or more.
  5. Ability to drive a vehicle with multiple occupants in a city environment.

Other Requirements for Employment

  • Must possess a valid state-issued driver’s license and have a driving record without major moving violations, including convictions for DUI, Reckless Driving, or Driving While Suspended. Must be insurable according to standards established by Wheeler Mission’s risk management insurance agency.
