Department Summary
The Events Manager is responsible for the oversight, coordination, and continuous improvement of campus event parking operations, event logistics, and parking support activities. This position is responsible for the planning & coordination support activities of parking accommodations for athletic events, campus lot and meter reservations, conferences, and large university functions such as commencement, move in/move out and performing arts events and provides back-up support for parking support needs.
Position Responsibilities:
  • Provides leadership and oversight for campus events and parking support activities and is responsible for the strategic planning, management, execution, and continuous improvement activities associated with event parking operations.
  • Works all assigned events, providing onsite leadership during these events to ensure operational success, provide customer support, and address inquiries or concerns from guests. Acts as the frontline events ambassador for TPS, modeling professional conduct and service excellence.
  • Accountable for achieving established performance measures related to event execution, customer satisfaction, revenue generation, meeting designated budget, staffing effectiveness, operational efficiency, and service quality.
  • Plans, coordinates and schedules reservation requests for lot/space closures, meter reservations, guest accommodations, permit requests, and parking support accommodations submitted by internal and external customers.
  • Develops and implements equipment and field logistics plans to support event operations. Working closely with the Parking Field Operations Manager to ensure successful field execution of event closures, signage, and equipment
  • Serves as the primary point of contact with Athletics to understand event needs, plan parking operations and ensure alignment with TPS resources and capabilities for OHIO athletic events. Develops and maintains partnerships with external organizations and agencies hosting events on campus including organizations such as the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) to plan parking, traffic management, and event logistic requirements to support event needs.
  • Assists campus stakeholders with developing and enacting parking plans to support major university events such as commencement, move in/move out, performing arts events, campus recreation events, admissions/BSO, camps/conferences and other high impact campus activities.
  • Manage and maintains event parking technology including handheld devices, POS systems, PCI requirements, and mobile applications used for event access and field payment collection.
  • Prepares and submits financial deposits for event parking operations in accordance with fiscal procedures.
  • Prepares and distributes weekly lot closure emails and event specific communications for the campus community, event planners, and partners.
  • Leads regularly established event coordination meetings with internal campus units and stakeholders to review event logistics and maintain partnerships. Represents Transportation & Parking Services in university, community, and event planning meetings with internal and external stakeholders to ensure seamless event execution and operational collaboration.
  • Develop and distribute post-event reports, summarizing operations, revenue, and staffing and monitors and reports on KPI's to drive revenue growth, operational efficiency, and cost containment strategies.
  • Develops and distributes event operational service guides and planning documents, policies, and best practice documentation.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures and training materials to ensure consistency and continuity of operations.
  • Completes benchmarking studies, and market research to identify trends, maintain competitiveness, and implement improvement strategies.
  • Provides backup support for campus parking operations and customer service functions.
  • Responsible for hiring, scheduling, supervision, performance management and development for operations team including 6-8 student event managers and 50-100 student event staff. Directs the daily operations of assigned staff and ensures resources are available to achieve work plans and resolve complex business needs.
  • Ensures staff adherence to standard operating procedures and service guidelines and compliance with university, state and federal service requirements. Proactively works to diffuse potential conflict before it begins.
  • Oversees integration of event parking technologies with existing parking management infrastructure. Remain current with emerging technologies and industry best practices to optimize service.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for after-hours support/resolution for assigned programs.
  • Displays leadership that results in teamwork, customer focus, innovation and continuous process improvement within their organization. Serves as a liaison for Transportation & Parking Services operations, representing the unit in a professional and customer-centric manner.
  • Assists with documentation of standard operating procedures, departmental guidelines, professional development and training, and safety/emergency procedures for operations activities & personnel in compliance with university, state/federal regulations.
  • Maintains operational inventories.
  • Supports special projects and initiatives for unit and RFP's for technology and services as assigned.
  • Provides support and assist with departmental functions as needed. Performs other misc. duties as assigned.
  • Works to resolve complex service issues & ensure operational efficiency and high levels of customer service with minimal impact to business operations and service functions.

Position Profile
Monitors campus transportation and parking activities and compliance with established policies. Responsible for overseeing permit parking, parking enforcement, event transportation, business transportation, campus transit service, safety and training, and facility and operations maintenance.
Level Summary

Primarily focused on supervision, but may still engage in operational tasks similar to the direct reports' roles. Accountable for the productivity and effectiveness of the team or department, ensuring goals are met.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Manages a small team. Directly oversees at least 2.0 FTE employees. Has authority to manage performance and assign duties. May have authority to hire, transfer, suspend, promote, discharge, reward, and discipline employees.

Responsible for managing a small budget or part of a larger budget.

Solves interpersonal team issues and develops solutions for team-related problems. Seeks guidance from higher-level management on complex problems.

Has discretion in decision-making but reports to higher-level management.

Collaborates with higher-level manager(s) and other teams, ensures team alignment with organizational goals.
Physical Requirements
Requires a range of physical activities. Positions may require driving, standing, walking through parking facilities, and/or ascending stairs or ramps.
Minimum Qualifications
Requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field, 3 or more years of related professional experience, and 1 or more years of supervisory experience, or equivalent education and experience. Certain positions may require Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
Must possess a valid Driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong oral and written communications and must have proficient knowledge in Microsoft Office and technology.
  • Experience with parking and event management technologies.
  • Ability to work under pressure managing multiple service priorities, strong interpersonal, organizational and teamwork skills.

The target salary range is $44,592 to $59,085 commensurate with the selected candidate's education and experience while considering internal equity.
