Company Overview 

Fixins Soul Kitchen seeks to redefine the American soul food experience.  We are full-service restaurants that uniquely combine traditional soul food with outstanding service and hip, energetic dining environments. Founded by former NBA All Star Kevin Johnson and his wife, Michelle, Fixins' menu is rooted in the Southern recipes passed down through generations from Kevin's family and friends.  Established in 2019 with the flagship store in the Oak Park neighborhood of Sacramento, CA, Fixins is rapidly expanding.  With additional current locations in Los Angeles (at the Staples Center), Tulsa (Black Wall Street), Detroit (Harmonie Park) and 6 new stores planned to open in the in next 2 years, we are seeking team members at all levels to join us in our goal of becoming the largest Black owned restaurant group in the nation. 

Position Summary 

As a Temporary Event Staff member at Fixins Soul Kitchen, you'll play a key role in delivering exceptional guest experiences at catered events, private functions, and community gatherings. Whether supporting Front of House or Back of House operations, you'll help create a welcoming, high-energy environment while ensuring food is prepared, presented, and served with excellence. Working collaboratively with the event team, you'll uphold Fixins' commitment to outstanding hospitality, quality, cleanliness, and efficiency. This role requires flexibility, a positive attitude, strong teamwork, attention to detail, and a passion for representing the Fixins brand at every event. 

Team members may be assigned to Front of House, Back of House, catering delivery, event setup/breakdown, or other event support roles based on business needs and individual qualifications. 

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver friendly, professional hospitality and help create a welcoming, high-energy event atmosphere for all guests. 

  • Support Front of House and/or Back of House operations based on event needs and manager direction. 

  • Assist with event setup, service, and breakdown, including tables, service stations, food stations, and equipment. 

  • Accurately prepare, package, serve, or deliver food and beverages according to Fixins quality and presentation standards. 

  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and sanitation of guest areas, kitchen areas, and event workspaces throughout the event. 

  • Communicate effectively with teammates and supervisors to ensure smooth, efficient event execution. 

  • Respond to guest questions or requests promptly and courteously, escalating concerns when appropriate. 

  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, health department, and company policies and procedures. 

  • Assist with stocking supplies, organizing inventory, and replenishing products during events. 

  • Represent the Fixins brand with professionalism, teamwork, and a positive attitude in every interaction. 

  • Perform other duties as assigned to support successful event operations and uphold Fixins' service standards. 

Operational Duties
  • Load and unload catering vehicles, trailers, and equipment.  

  • Safely transport food and equipment when assigned and authorized.  

  • Complete opening and closing checklists.  

  • Maintain inventory and report damaged or missing equipment.  

  • Follow cash handling procedures if working point-of-sale.  

  • Wear required uniform and maintain professional appearance.  

  • Follow all safety procedures when using catering equipment, knives, hot holding equipment, and generators. 

Qualifications
  • Ideally 1-3 years of restaurant, catering, or event experience  

  • Must be able to speak clearly and listen attentively to guests and other team members 

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and remain calm under pressure 

  • Positive attitude and a willingness to learn and grow 

  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed 

  • High school diploma preferred 

  • Must have or be willing to obtain Food Handler's Card and Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) Certification if required by law (Certifications differ per state) 

Work Environment & Physical Requirements
  • Transporting and carrying objects (such as bus tubs, trays, trash cans, and food plates) up to 50 pounds.  

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (6-12 hours depending on the event).  

  • Ability to safely move tables, chairs, coolers, catering equipment, and supplies.  

  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.  

  • Ability to bend, kneel, climb stairs, and perform repetitive tasks. 

  • Exposure to hot surfaces, kitchen equipment, and potential allergens 

$20 - $25 an hour
