Position Summary

The Operations Supervisor supervises and coordinates event setup activities and operations for the facility and provides responsible staff assistance to the Operations Manager.

This role pays an hourly rate of $24.00-$26.00.

About the Venue

The Tahoe Blue Event Center is a 5,000-seat arena with an additional 10,000 square feet of meeting room space, located in the Stateline, Nevada, area of South Lake Tahoe, nestled between the peaks of Heavenly Mountain Ski Resort and beautiful Lake Tahoe.

Opened in September of 2023, the Tahoe Blue Event Center hosts 125+ events throughout the year, including concerts, sporting events, family shows, conferences, banquets, meetings, trade shows, consumer shows, and more. The Tahoe Blue Event Center is home to the Tahoe Knight Monsters of the ECHL.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with management responsibility for all services and activities involved in the operations of all venue and exhibition & convention spaces.
  • Provide staff training for all employees and temporary workers.
  • Deliver and follow up on Performance Improvement procedures on a timely basis.
  • Ensure staff are working safely and are aware of proper safety guidelines.
  • Lead and coordinate staff training and safety programs.
  • Assist or lead planning, directing, coordinating, and reviewing of work plans for facility operations.
  • Review and understand event documents to forecast staffing and equipment needs for all Arena & Convention events.
  • Coordinate facility arrangements with concessionaires and AV.
  • Oversee and monitor changeover and housekeeping crews; provide team support as required.
  • Maintains departmental equipment; notifies Operations Manager when repairs are needed.
  • Provide excellent customer service to internal and external clients to provide a positive employee climate.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations or Operations Manager.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2-3+ years' experience in an operations position in an arena, convention center, public assembly facility, or similar location, with knowledge of setup/housekeeping and event coordination.
  • An advanced degree in Facility Management or a related field may be substituted for years of experience.
  • Ability to effectively operate a company-provided cell phone for calls, emails, and texts.
  • Advanced computer skills and experience with MS Word, Outlook, and Excel preferred.
  • Ability to effectively supervise a team in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Knowledge of OSHA standards and requirements.
  • Forklift certification or ability to acquire within 90 days of employment.
  • Possess superior interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
  • Self-motivated and excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work long hours, including a varied schedule of days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
