Job description

We're hiring an Event Marketing Specialist to fuel our continued business growth across our energy, environment, and infrastructure markets. Reporting to the Senior Marketing Manager, the Event Marketing Specialist will help tell our story through virtual and in-person events, including tradeshows, client events, webinars, and more.
We're not a typical consulting firm, so we're not looking for a typical Event Marketing Specialist. We're looking for someone who knows how to turn events into meaningful brand and business opportunities and create experiences that strengthen client relationships, elevate ICF's market presence, and support growth across priority markets. You'll help bring campaigns to life through strategic planning, seamless execution, and compelling event marketing that connects with the right audiences.
This position sits on ICF's corporate marketing team in the campaign strategy function and partners closely with our energy, environment and infrastructure business teams to align messaging, market priorities, and growth goals.
This is a hybrid role based in our global headquarters in Reston, VA.
What you will do:
  • Plan and execute virtual and in-person events, including tradeshows, sponsorships, client events, and webinars.
  • Partner with marketing and business leaders to align event strategies, messaging, and audience engagement with broader business priorities and growth goals.
  • Develop integrated event marketing plans, including promotional activities, branded materials, and attendee communications.
  • Manage event execution from planning through post-event follow-up, including timelines, budgets, vendors, exhibit coordination, registration, and onsite logistics.
  • Advise internal stakeholders on event strategy and opportunities to maximize visibility, engagement, and overall business impact.
  • Support the development and continuous improvement of event marketing best practices, processes, templates, and self-service tools to help scale event execution and improve consistency across teams.
  • Coordinate across internal teams, speakers, partners, and vendors to deliver consistent, high-quality event experiences.
  • Track and analyze event and sponsorship performance metrics and recommend improvements for future marketing efforts.
  • Maintain records for event budgets, contracts, timelines, and post-event reporting.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 3+ years of experience in event planning, or marketing and communications related to event planning.
  • Willing and able to travel up to 10% annually (domestically).

Preferred Skills/Experience:
  • Experience with platforms such as Marketo, GotoWebinar, Zoom, WebEx, Eventbrite, Cvent, or similar.
  • Professional Skills:
  • Passion for finding new and creative ways to engage an audience.
  • Ability to work across teams and departments in a highly collaborative way.
  • Strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Energetic, self-starter and resourceful problem solver.
  • Attention to detail with the ability to work on multiple tasks at once.
