What are Event Interns?

Event Interns are entry-level professionals who assist event coordinators or managers in organizing and executing various types of events, such as conferences, weddings, corporate meetings, or festivals. Their responsibilities may include administrative tasks, communicating with vendors and attendees, helping with setup and breakdown, and supporting event promotion. Event Interns gain hands-on experience in event planning, project management, and teamwork, making it a valuable stepping stone for a career in the events industry.

What is the highest paying intern job?

Event internships typically do not offer the highest pay compared to other fields; high-paying internships are often found in finance, technology, and consulting industries. These roles may require specialized skills, certifications, or prior experience and can pay significantly higher than standard internships, sometimes exceeding $20 per hour or more for competitive positions.

What do events interns do?

Events interns assist with planning, coordinating, and executing events by handling tasks such as setting up venues, managing registration, and supporting event logistics. They often gain experience in communication, organization, and time management while working under the supervision of event coordinators or managers.

Is $30 an hour good for an intern?

For an event intern, $30 an hour is considered above average in many regions, as internships typically pay between minimum wage and $20 per hour. However, pay rates vary based on location, industry, and the intern's experience level, so it's important to compare with local standards and the responsibilities involved.

What kinds of tasks and responsibilities can I expect on a typical day as an Event Intern?

As an Event Intern, your daily responsibilities will vary but often include assisting with event logistics, coordinating with vendors, handling registration, and supporting on-site setup and breakdown. You may also help with administrative tasks such as preparing materials, managing guest lists, and communicating with attendees or sponsors. Expect to work closely with event coordinators and other team members, gaining hands-on experience in problem-solving and multitasking in a fast-paced environment. This role provides valuable exposure to the full event planning process and is a great stepping stone for a career in event management.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Event Intern, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Event Intern, you need strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a background in hospitality, communications, or a related field. Familiarity with event management software, Microsoft Office Suite, and social media platforms is often expected. Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities help you stand out in this fast-paced environment. These skills ensure smooth event execution, effective collaboration with teams and vendors, and a positive experience for attendees.

What is the difference between Event Intern vs Event Coordinator?

AspectEvent InternEvent Coordinator

Work EnvironmentInternship setting, assisting with event setup and planningFull-time role managing event logistics and client communication
Employer & Industry UsageEvent planning companies, nonprofits, corporate eventsEvent planning firms, corporate event departments, venues

While both roles involve supporting event planning, an Event Intern typically assists with tasks under supervision and is gaining industry experience. An Event Coordinator manages event logistics, communicates with clients, and oversees event execution. The internship is often a stepping stone toward a full coordinator role, with the latter requiring more experience and responsibility.

Is 22 too old for an internship?

Event internships are typically open to a wide age range, and 22 is not considered too old. Many interns are in their early twenties, and age usually does not disqualify candidates if they have relevant skills or interest in event planning and coordination.
