Job description

Summary: Will be responsible for setting up and breaking down all meeting and Member events. Is expected to follow the banquet event order (BEO) for all events accurately and thoroughly. As part of the Set-up team, you will be part of an essential support staff for Human Resources, Banquets, Catering, Recreation, and many others.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Duties include but are not limited to: setting and breaking down furniture, lighting, and all other equipment necessary as dictated by the event BEO, as well as returning equipment to their proper storage locations. Will be responsible for coming to work with a positive attitude and open mind to further their knowledge of the Club's Set Up department equipment and standards.
  • Lifting and transporting of heavy materials, over 75 lbs. at times.
  • Shipping, receiving and transportation of conference groups boxes and crates.
  • Set-up, clean, and break down meetings and banquet functions.
  • Supply and replenish all meetings with pads, pencils, candy, water glasses and water pitchers.
  • Stock and organize supply closets and storage rooms.
  • Maintain cleanliness of equipment, (i.e. meeting chairs, golf carts, street lamp, folding chairs)
  • Good communication skills and team effort between other departments and your supervisor.
  • Maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance.
  • Provide good stewardship of and assist in the maintenance/ cleanliness of meeting facilities

Qualifications: Must possess a strong work ethic, positive attitude, and desire to learn. Must be comfortable working a flexible schedule including holidays & weekends. The individual must also be able to lift a minimum of 75 pounds.
Education and/or Experience: Prior experience in hospitality, particularly in a banquet or events operation where Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) are utilized is preferred. High School diploma is required.
Language Skills: Ability to read, write and comprehend the English language in order to communicate with co-workers and fully understand job assignments.
Reasoning Ability: The individual must possess a sense of ownership and produce high quality work consistently. An individual who will excel in this position will also possess good judgment, high attention to detail, as well as a strong aptitude for problem-solving.

Attendance, Appearance, and Conduct:
Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established by Ocean Reef Club from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position. Associates with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry and report deadlines, the associate may be required to work varying schedules to meet the business needs of the Club and report deadlines.
Proper grooming is required by all associates and is described in detail in the Associates Handbook. Associates should review this policy and make sure that at all times they present themselves for shifts looking clean, neat and professional.
As a condition of employment, all associates agree to fully comply with Ocean Reef Club rules and regulations for the safe and efficient operation of Club facilities. Associates who violate Club rules and regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
