Job description

Overview
The Office of Events is a growing department whose primary function is to assure the events hosted by Utah State University, "Exceed Expectations".
The primary purpose of this position is to work as member of a team to assist with the setup, operation, and striking of audiovisual and other technical event related equipment in event spaces in multiple buildings including the Taggart Student Center, Eccles Conference Center, University Inn (5th Floor), David B. Haight Center, West Stadium Center, and other indoor and outdoor spaces.
The work hours for this position are flexible and will require some night, weekend, and holiday hours as needed.
Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Event Tech Team Supervisor:
  • Read and follow technical setup plans.
  • Transport technical equipment from storage space to event space.
  • Organize and assemble technical equipment such as Microphones, Speakers, Sound Board, Lights, Light Board, Projector, etc.
  • Provide troubleshooting and assistance during events as required
  • Following event, strike technical equipment and transport it to storage space.
  • Provide guests with directions, general information and assistance as requested.
  • Practice and promotes continuous improvement of environmental and safety practices.
  • Follow all building policies and procedures as identified in the Taggart Student Center Policy Manual.
  • Performs other Event Technician functions as assigned.
  • Participate in trainings as assigned

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
  • Willingness and ability to work flexible hours as needed including nights and weekends.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous work experience
  • Previous experience with audiovisual and media equipment such as Microphones, Speakers, Laptops, Projectors, Sound Boards, Light Boards, lights, etc.
  • Customer service skills including resolving customer concerns

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to learn through training, observation and hands on experience.
  • Ability to receive regular direction and coaching from a supervisor
  • Ability to perform tasks without close supervision.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Detail oriented
  • Ability to communicate and act professionally with coworkers and customers
