Job description


onsemi is seeking a highly motivated and technically skilled Metrology Module Engineer to join our manufacturing team in Hopewell Junction, NY. This position will serve as a key technical resource supporting metrology systems and manufacturing operations during evening production hours.
The successful candidate will partner closely with Operations, Process Engineering, Equipment Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to rapidly identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues impacting production performance. This role will focus on driving equipment performance, process stability, defect reduction, productivity improvements, and continuous operational excellence.
Shift Structure
The Metrology organization utilizes a dedicated evening engineering model to provide direct support to manufacturing operations during critical production hours.
  • Engineer A: Sunday - Wednesday, 2:00 PM - 12:00 AM
  • Engineer B: Wednesday - Saturday, 2:00 PM - 12:00 AM

Responsibilities
  • Own day-to-day engineering support for assigned metrology tools and processes during evening manufacturing operations.
  • Provide rapid technical responses to process excursions, tool alarms, quality events, and production-impacting issues.
  • Mentor/Train technicians and junior engineers in troubleshooting methodologies and best practices.
  • Lead structured root cause investigations and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Drive tool performance, uptime, capability, and productivity improvements.
  • Partner with manufacturing supervisors and technicians to maintain stable production operations.
  • Utilize statistical methods and data analysis tools to improve process capability and manufacturing consistency.
  • Participate in cross-functional improvement projects focused on yield, cycle time, quality, and cost reduction.
  • Create and maintain engineering documentation, procedures, specifications, and training materials.
  • Ensure compliance with all Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security requirements.

Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, Chemistry, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field.

Experience
  • 3+ years of semiconductor manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Experience supporting metrology, process engineering, equipment engineering, yield engineering, or manufacturing engineering functions.
  • Experience with statistical process control (SPC), data analysis, and structured problem solving.
  • Experience working in a high-volume manufacturing environment preferred.

Technical Skills
  • Semiconductor manufacturing processes and equipment knowledge.
  • Root cause analysis and troubleshooting methodologies.
  • Statistical analysis and process control techniques.
  • Data visualization and analysis tools.
  • Continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Salary: onsemi is excited to share the base salary range for this position is$101,700 to $172,700 exclusive of fringe benefits or potential bonuses.The final pay rate for the successful candidate will depend on geographic location, skills, education, experience, and/or consideration of the internal equity of our current team members.
