Job description

We are seeking a passionate and skilled educator to support high school students (grades 11–12) in achieving academic success, preparing for college, and developing leadership and career-readiness skills. This role blends instruction, tutoring, mentorship, and program engagement in a dynamic learning environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging instruction in reading, writing, and mathematics enrichment aligned with upper high school standards
  • Provide ACT test preparation and targeted academic support
  • Offer individualized and small-group tutoring aligned with 11th–12th grade coursework
  • Differentiate instruction to support diverse learning needs and academic levels
  • Provide social-emotional support, including navigating family dynamics, personal challenges, and barriers to academic success
  • Track and monitor student progress; adjust teaching strategies accordingly

Student Development

  • Mentor students in:
    • Leadership and communication skills
    • Time management and organization
    • Workplace readiness and professional behavior
  • Encourage perseverance, accountability, and goal setting
  • Serve as a positive role model for college-bound juniors and seniors

Program Participation

  • Support after-school and evening programming during the school year
  • Participate in summer learning sessions, field trips, and community activities

Schedule

  • Summer (June–August): Monday–Thursday, 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM

  • Flexibility required based on program needs

 Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field
  • Experience teaching or tutoring 11th–12th grade students
  • Experience teaching Title 1 schools, underserved communities, or students facing educational barriers.
  • Strong background in math, reading, writing, or ACT preparation
  • Ability to engage and differentiate instruction for diverse learners
  • Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills
