Associate Vice President, Data, Insights amp; Learning
PURPOSE OF POSITION: The Associate Vice President, Data, Insights amp; Learning provides enterprise-wide leadership to strengthen how data, learning, and evidence are used to to drive campaign revenue, community impact, effective partnership, transparency, and accountability. Serving as a trusted partner to development, marketing and communications, engagement, program, finance, and operations teams, this role ensures data is consistently gathered, analyzed, shared, and applied to advance United Way’s revenue, strengthen corporate and philanthropic development, the efficacy of internal programs, external partnerships, and community priorities.
This role balances strategic leadership with hands-on execution—improving system use, streamlining reporting, and embedding data-informed and learning-oriented practices into everyday decision-making. Responsible use of analytics and cost-effective AI tools supports efficiency and insight while reinforcing stewardship, ethics, and trust.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Systems, Data amp; Organizational Learning Enablement
  • Provide cross-functional leadership to optimize adoption and effective use of data systems across the organization
  • Establish and govern shared data standards, definitions, and operating processes to ensure consistency, clarity, and comparability
  • Strengthen data quality, reporting cadence and integrity, and role-based access so staff and leadership can quickly find and trust information
  • Reduce duplicative work and manual effort by improving system design, automation, information sharing, updates and workflow alignment across teams
  • Design and deliver dashboards and reporting tools that enable learning, performance management, and accountability at all levels

Data Processes for Communications, Marketing amp; Storytelling
  • Design and maintain end-to-end data processes that connect program, fundraising, and operations data to communications and marketing needs
  • Ensure teams align on shared metrics, governance, and agreed-upon definitions to support accurate reporting and storytelling
  • Provide data finding to and collaborate communications and marketing teams to translate data into audience insights, performance measures, and compelling impact stories
  • Enable timely, data-informed messaging and outreach decisions through improving access to insights and reporting cadence

Analytics, Insights amp; Responsible AI Use
  • Integrate and analyze data from multiple sources to deliver actionable insights, including clear recommendations and executive-ready summaries
  • Apply analytics and AI tools responsibly to accelerate insight generation and improve decision making
  • Identify and prioritize low-cost, high-impact opportunities for AI, automation, and process improvement and implement training opportunities to designated staff
  • Ensure privacy, ethics, transparency, and appropriate human oversight in all analytics and AI-enabled work

Strategy, Learning amp; Community Impact
  • Define, operationalize, and monitor KPIs aligned with United Way goals, ensuring clear ownership and reporting routines
  • Advance a culture of learning and continuous improvement by facilitating reflection, feedback loops, and shared best practices

Leadership, Communication amp; Change Management
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to senior leaders and data analyst staff on data governance, learning priorities, and performance measurement
  • Communicate insights to staff, leadership, boards, partners and funders through executive-ready summaries, visuals, and actionable recommendations
  • Build organizational capacity through training, coaching, and shared learning resources that strengthen data literacy and tool adoption
  • Promote transparency and accountability by establishing clear reporting expectations, documentation, and feedback mechanisms

NON-ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION:
  • Community Engagement: Attends occasional evening and weekend events as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Typical Experience: 5-8 years of professional experience in data analytics, business management, non-profits, or related field. Bachelor’s degree in business, Computer Science, Information Technology or any related field.
  • Track record of solving sophisticated data analytics problems at scale with outstanding business and technology results
  • Strong performance improvement, systems change and leadership skills to include coaching, goal setting, and holding team members across multiple levels accountable for commitments.
  • Demonstrates ability to work effectively in a fast paced, demanding, and fluid environment, remain calm under pressure, and handle opportunities across various areas and levels of the organization.
  • Highly developed analytical skills with verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work up and down the organization, able to influence others to achieve results.
  • Good understanding of data technology capabilities, processes, and standard methodologies, staying aligned to industry trends.
  • Experience implementing large systems and/or programs across an organization.
  • Experience with Executive, Board or Funder reporting and communications
  • Competence in MS Office products, CRMs, and use of analytics and AI tools
  • Respect for differences whether racial, ethnic, sexual orientation, gender, or class.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to pass pre-employment testing including background check, drug and alcohol screen.
  • Valid driver license and proof of insurance. Access to reliable insured automobile to be used for work-related travel in Summit amp; Medina County area.
