Job description

Responsible for supervising and maintaining the Reference Desk during the evening and weekends, to include providing reference and circulation assistance to students, faculty, and staff.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Staff the circulation and reference desk; provide high-quality customer service to students, faculty, staff, and community members.
  • Provide technology support, including device troubleshooting, connecting to printers, and navigating library software, desktops, and systems.
  • Assist with maintenance of the collection, including processing new books.
  • Assist with interlibrary loan processing.
  • Open and close the library as scheduled, including evenings and weekends.
  • Create and maintain displays.
  • Conduct library tours and assist with admissions events.
  • Reshelve and shelf-read library materials to ensure access and accuracy.
  • Create and maintain LibGuides and other digital content supporting collection discovery.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • Ability to use and assist others with library technologies, databases, and the online catalog (OPAC/ILS)
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software programs to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
  • Strong customer service orientation and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Commitment to supporting a diverse learning community.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • MLS/MLIS or enrolled in an ALA accredited graduate library program.

Compensation: $18.00 per hour, 20 hours per week
