Job description

About Pen Manufacturing:
Pen Manufacturing is a prominent player in the sheet metal, machining and welding fabrication industry, renowned for
delivering precision-engineered solutions. We are a fast growing and fast paced manufacturing company focused on
Water Infrastructure, Roads/Bridges, Aerospace and many more industries.
President
Build the Next Great American Manufacturing Company
Location: Orange County, California (Onsite)
Compensation: Competitive Salary + Performance Bonus + Equity Opportunity
Why This Role Matters
Almost everything around us is made from metal.
Buildings. Data centers. Electrical equipment. Medical devices. Defense systems. Infrastructure.
Metal keeps the world running.
At Metal Solutions we buy great American manufacturing companies and help them grow.
We acquire profitable manufacturing businesses, invest in better people, technology, AI, automation, and systems, then continue acquiring additional companies to build something much larger.
Today, we own Pen Manufacturing, a Southern California contract manufacturer serving aerospace, defense, infrastructure, data centers, and industrial customers.
Our goal is to build a platform of multiple manufacturing companies exceeding $100 million in annual revenue.
You'll begin by leading Pen Manufacturing with full P&L responsibility. As we grow through acquisitions, this role is designed to become a multi-site leadership position overseeing multiple operating companies.
If you've always wanted to build something instead of simply maintaining it, this is your opportunity.
What You'll Do
You'll have full responsibility for the business.
You'll own the P&L and be accountable for:
  • Revenue growth
  • EBITDA
  • Cash flow
  • Sales & marketing
  • Customer relationships
  • Pricing and margins
  • Engineering
  • Operations
  • Production
  • Quality
  • Hiring and developing leaders

Your job is simple:
Build a growing, profitable manufacturing company.
Commercial Leadership
Growth is our biggest opportunity.
You'll work closely with our Director of Sales and commercial team to:
  • Win more business
  • Improve quote win rates
  • Increase factory utilization
  • Improve pricing and margins
  • Visit key customers
  • Build a predictable sales pipeline
  • Expand into new markets
  • Improve forecasting

You'll constantly ask:
  • Why did we lose this job?
  • How do we win the next one?
  • Which customers need executive attention?
  • Where should we invest?
  • How do we grow profitably?
Operational Leadership
Commercial success means nothing without operational execution.
You don't need to know how to run every machine.
You do need to understand your business.
You should always know:
  • The most important jobs
  • The biggest risks
  • What is behind schedule
  • What your team is doing to fix it
  • How operations affect profit and cash flow
Who We're Looking For
We're looking for a builder, not a caretaker.
Someone with strong business sense who understands how to grow a manufacturing business.
You think like an owner.
You make decisions.
You solve problems.
You hold people accountable.
You care about customers, employees, and results.
You have a scrappy, entrepreneurial mindset and aren't afraid to roll up your sleeves.
You move fast, adapt quickly, and don't wait for someone else to solve problems.
Required Experience
You have successfully led a manufacturing business through growth.
You've made tough decisions when cash was tight.
You've managed working capital, protected cash flow, and balanced growth with financial discipline.
You understand how to grow without losing control of the business.
You have experience with:
  • Full P&L ownership
  • Growing revenue
  • Improving EBITDA
  • Managing cash flow and working capital
  • Pricing and margin management
  • Sales leadership
  • Operations leadership
  • Building leadership teams
  • Leading through both growth and challenging business cycles

Experience in metal fabrication, machining, contract manufacturing, aerospace, defense, infrastructure, or industrial manufacturing is strongly preferred.
Leadership Expectations
This is an ownership role.
Manufacturing doesn't stop at 5:00 PM.
Customers don't stop calling because it's Friday evening.
Acquisitions don't happen on a fixed schedule.
There will be times when early mornings, evenings, and weekends are needed to support customers, employees, production, acquisitions, or major business opportunities.
We're looking for someone who takes pride in doing what's needed to build a great company.
What Success Looks Like
Over the next several years, you'll help us:
  • Grow revenue significantly
  • Increase profitability
  • Build a world-class commercial organization
  • Improve factory utilization
  • Develop outstanding leaders
  • Complete additional acquisitions
  • Integrate new businesses
  • Build a manufacturing platform with over $100 million in annual revenue

Compensation:
Base: $150,000- $300,000 (Based on experience)
OTD: $150,000- $500,000
