Job description

LJA Mission Statement:

Essential Functions
  • Must possess excellent hospitality skills and a strong desire to foster an attitude of Christian hospitality, consistently striving to "exceed guest expectations" in every interaction.
  • Arrive on time to all scheduled events and maintain an accurate, up-to-date knowledge of the daily work list and event setup needs.
  • Set up and prepare banquet and dining spaces prior to each event as specified in the Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), including tables, chairs, linens, water/cups, notepads, pens, and any additional equipment or décor as requested.
  • Provide attentive, pleasant, and efficient wait service to guests during banquets, regular dining, and special events and functions, following posted duties for each meal or occasion.
  • Maintain cleanliness of all serving, dining, and event areas throughout service; break down and reset event spaces following the conclusion of each function.
  • Uphold grade "A" health and sanitation standards at all times, ensuring the safety and well-being of guests and fellow staff.
  • Transport tables, chairs, food carts, and other event equipment between buildings and spaces as needed to support seamless event operations.
  • Monitor event spaces, service equipment, and work areas to ensure they are in good working order and safe for public use; report any missing or out-of-service items to the supervisor promptly.
  • Respond promptly and positively to last-minute service requests, maintaining a gracious, can-do attitude to ensure the best possible guest experience in every situation.
  • Wear and maintain a clean, pressed staff uniform at all times while on duty, including a visible name tag.
  • Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures and report any unsafe activities or conditions immediately to the supervisor or the Human Resources department.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned and required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma and 1-3 months relevant food service experience. Hospitality background strongly desired.
  • Hospitality experience strongly desired.
  • Must have demonstrated good communication skills, client relation skills, and a commitment to providing responsive and conscientious customer service.
  • Must be flexible and able to adapt to changing needs, multiple task demands, and work structures.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, emails, and memos.
  • Ability to effectively present job related information upon request to customers, clients, and employees of the organization.
  • Proven organizational skills and interpersonal skills are required.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and handle a variety of customer, clients and employee questions.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule formats.
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule

Working conditions
  • Moderate to physical activity work.
  • Well-lighted, heated and/or air-conditioned indoor kitchen/dining room setting with adequate ventilation; with moderate to loud noise.
  • Physical demands: able to lift up to 50 pounds, manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items
  • Works with the fingers and perceives attributes of objects and materials
  • Climb, balance, stoop, kneel; frequently moves about, able to stand and walk for extended periods,
  • At times, be outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Must be able to frequently move from building to building pushing food carts and/or carrying objects up to 50lbs.
  • Vision: must be able to see close, have good vision to perform daily duties.
  • Monday through Sunday, nights, weekend, holiday, OT, as needed.
