Your mission
To provide comprehensive legal advice and support to the company in order to mitigate legal risks, ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and optimize business operations. Plays a critical role in safeguarding the company's interests and facilitating its growth in North America. Be a first point of contact in all legal matters for the business and ensuring that issues are solved efficiently and with high quality. Actively drive continuous development and implementation of processes, practices and tools used within Hiab.
To succeed, the candidate must have the readiness to adopt a pragmatic, generalist mindset, as the role is more concerned with effective risk management rather than eliminating all risk, and will require diving into and learning new and varied areas of the law.
Key responsibilities
  • Provide practical, solutions-orientated legal advice to various North American business units on a wide range of legal matters, including contract negotiation and regulatory compliance
  • Draft, review and negotiate complex commercial agreements, including vendor and customer agreements, ensuring that the company's interests are protected and aligned with its strategic goals
  • Identify, assess and mitigate legal risks associated with the company's business activities
  • Manage dispute resolution and outside counsel for litigations
  • Support in structural changes and selected M&A cases
  • Educate and train key stakeholders on relevant legal issues, fostering a culture of legal awareness and compliance

What we are looking for
  • US law degree from a reputable university. Admission to a US State Bar
  • Minimum 5-7 years of legal experience, preferably as in-house counsel
  • Experience drafting and negotiating different types of complex commercial agreements (e.g., sales, procurement, distribution, licensing)
  • Experience gained from applicable industry (e.g. heavy industry sector, infrastructure, automotive, or material handling industry) or a global industrial firm with European parent company considered a plus
  • Knowledge and experience with other areas of law (e.g., employment, IP, privacy, EHS, litigation) is a plus, but a willingness to learn such areas and become a generalist is a MUST
  • Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent execution, follow up, project management, and coordination skills
