Position: Paint Estimator
Reports To: Department Operations Manager

Painter Estimator Position Overview:
The Paint & Stain Estimator is responsible for evaluating residential and commercial painting and staining projects and preparing accurate, competitive cost estimates. This role involves meeting with clients, assessing project scope, performing site visits, calculating labor and material costs, and collaborating with operations teams to ensure successful project execution. The ideal candidate combines strong technical knowledge of painting and staining processes with excellent customer service and sales skills.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Conduct on-site and virtual assessments for interior and exterior painting and staining projects.
  • Accurately measure surfaces and evaluate project scope, including prep work, repairs, and finishes.
  • Prepare detailed, timely, and competitive estimates based on labor, materials, and equipment needs. Noting colors.
  • Communicate clearly with clients to understand expectations, timelines, and budget considerations.
  • Perform the sales role with follow-up with the customer and closing of the deal.
  • Recommend appropriate products, finishes, and application methods based on project conditions.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships to support sales growth and repeat business.
  • Collaborate with project managers and field teams to ensure estimates align with execution plans.
  • Track and follow up on submitted bids to close sales opportunities.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of materials, pricing, and industry trends.
  • Ensure all estimates comply with company standards, safety guidelines, and local regulations.
  • Assist with scheduling and project handoff to operations after job award.
  • Identify and proactively recommend cost-saving opportunities.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Previous experience in painting, staining, construction estimating, or a related field preferred
  • Strong knowledge of interior and exterior painting and staining techniques, materials, and surface preparation
  • Ability to read plans, perform accurate measurements, and calculate project costs
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Proficiency with estimating software and basic computer applications (e.g., Google Drive, CRM tools)
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines
  • Sales experience or a customer-facing background is a plus

WORK HOURS:
Employees will be provided with their schedule based on the available schedules outlined in our Alternative Workweek Agreement. Schedules are subject to change based on company need with minimal notice.
