Job description

The Estimating & Proposal Manager - Sales is responsible for leading proposal development, preparing cost estimates, and driving sales efforts for B&W after market gas and coal products. This role requires a strategic approach to bid-winning proposals, customer engagement, and business growth. Working cross-functionally with Engineering, Product Management, Sales, and Supply Chain, this individual ensures accurate, competitive, and timely proposals while actively pursuing new business opportunities.
Proposal & Estimating Responsibilities:
  • Lead and coordinate proposal development efforts, ensuring timely submission of high-quality proposals.
  • Prepare cost estimates for boiler systems, environmental equipment, and related services using technical drawings, supplier quotes, and industry data.
  • Develop comprehensive project pricing, including materials, labor, engineering, and project execution costs.
  • Conduct cost reviews, risk assessments, and pricing approvals in alignment with company guidelines.
  • Ensure seamless handoff of project details to execution teams post-award.

Sales & Business Development:
  • Drive customer engagement through site visits, relationship management, and targeted outreach.
  • Identify new sales opportunities, leveraging market data and customer feedback to expand service offerings.
  • Develop and execute strategic sales plans to meet or exceed business growth objectives.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Process Improvement:
  • Work closely with Engineering, Legal, and Project Management teams to refine technical and commercial strategies.
  • Partner with supply chain teams to secure accurate pricing and vendor agreements.
  • Mentor and support junior estimators and proposal specialists.
  • Continuously improve proposal and estimating processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of experience in estimating, proposal development, or sales within the industrial or manufacturing sector.
  • Strong knowledge of boiler systems, environmental equipment, and industrial services.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, estimating tools
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
  • Willingness to travel (up to 30%) for customer visits and business development.
