Job description

Direct Counsel is representing an Am Law 100 firm seeking a Mid- to Senior-Level Trusts & Estates Associate for its Kansas City or St. Louis office.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a nationally recognized, client-focused trusts and estates group advising high-net-worth individuals, families, business owners, athletes, Fortune 500 companies, and nonprofit organizations on estate planning, wealth transfer, tax mitigation, and asset protection strategies.


Position Overview

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 3+ years of experience in estate planning, wealth transfer strategies, and sophisticated tax and asset protection planning

  • Experience counseling clients on gift and estate tax, charitable giving, trust formation and administration, and complex family structures

  • An LL.M. in Taxation or Estate Planning is preferred but not required

This role offers the opportunity to work closely with clients and partners on customized estate and business succession plans, high-value trust structures, and sophisticated planning for multigenerational wealth.


Candidate Qualifications
  • J.D. and active Missouri bar admission required

  • Strong academic credentials

  • Excellent written, verbal, and analytical skills

  • Detail-oriented and able to manage complex planning matters

  • Strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative, team-driven mindset

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-touch client environment
