As Overwatch Esports continues to evolve, we are seeking an experienced cross-functional leader who is passionate about growing the sport, expanding fandom, and building new ways for players and audiences to connect with the ecosystem.
Your mission is to drive audience growth and engagement across Overwatch Esports by leading product, content, social, broadcast, brand, and live activation strategy while partnering closely with internal teams and external vendors to deliver world-class programs and fan experiences.
This role is anticipated to be a hybrid onsite/work-from-home position, with the home studio based in Irvine, CA.
What you bring to the table:
  • Drive the growth vision for Overwatch Esports across sport and esports audiences, identifying new opportunities to increase reach, fandom, engagement, and cultural relevance.
  • Lead strategies that create new avenues for content distribution, social engagement, and fan interaction across owned, earned, and partner channels.
  • Own the development and execution of audience growth initiatives spanning broadcast, social, brand, content production, and channel standards.
  • Partner cross-functionally with teams across Blizzard and external vendors, including marketing, community, analytics, creative, production, broadcast, competitive operations, franchise, and regional teams, to deliver integrated esports programs.
  • Translate business goals and audience insights into actionable growth strategies, campaigns, content programs, and live experience initiatives.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for North America and EMEA, aligning regional execution with the broader global esports vision and supporting the global lead on strategic initiatives.
  • Lead onsite brand activations and fan-facing initiatives at tentpole events, ensuring Overwatch Esports shows up in a compelling, consistent, and culturally resonant way.
  • Act as a secondary lead on live event execution, partnering with event, production, and operations teams to deliver high-quality competitive and fan experiences.
  • Own and develop go to market plans for new competitive and esports driven game features to increase participation and player conversion.
  • Establish and uphold standards for broadcast presentation, social storytelling, brand execution, and content quality across programs and vendors.
  • Collaborate with internal and external creative and production partners to develop compelling content formats, campaign ideas, and programming that drive audience growth and deepen engagement.
  • Identify player, fan, creator, and community needs through data, feedback, and cultural trends, and incorporate those insights into strategy and execution.
  • Define success metrics for growth and engagement initiatives, including viewership, reach, social engagement, audience retention, fan sentiment, event impact, and contribution to broader franchise goals.
  • Build reporting, business cases, and strategic presentations for leadership to communicate performance, opportunities, and recommendations.
  • Maintain strong relationships with regional stakeholders, creators, influencers, and community figures to strengthen the Overwatch Esports ecosystem.
  • Ensure alignment across regional and global teams so that programs scale effectively while maintaining consistency in brand, audience experience, and operational excellence.

Minimum Requirements
  • 12+ years of experience in Product Marketing, Growth, Product Management, Brand Marketing, Audience Development, or Program Leadership within gaming, esports, sports, media, or entertainment, or a combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities with a proven track record of converting insights into decisions.
  • Proven experience building and executing growth strategies that increase audience reach, engagement, and fan affinity.
  • Experience leading cross-functional initiatives across content, social, brand marketing, broadcast, live events, and external partners.
  • Experience developing content and channel strategies for gaming, esports, sports, or entertainment audiences.
  • Strong understanding of how to grow fandom through social storytelling, creator ecosystems, live programming, and community engagement.
  • Experience managing external agencies, production partners, and/or vendor relationships at AAA scale.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, with a track record of turning audience insights and performance data into action.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills across creative, operational, and executive stakeholders.
  • Experience building go-to-market plans, growth programs, campaign strategies, and executive-ready reporting.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a highly cross-functional, fast-moving environment with regional and global stakeholders.
  • Proficient skills in product documentation for pitching, reporting, or organization
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally to support live events and esports initiatives.
  • Strong familiarity with FPS games and gaming culture, either through professional experience or personal passion.

In the U.S., the standard base pay range for this role is $87,480.00 - $161,910.00 Annual. These values reflect the expected base pay range of new hires across all U.S. locations. Ultimately, your specific range and offer will be based on several factors, including relevant experience, performance, and work location. Your Talent Professional can share this role's range details for your local geography during the hiring process. In addition to a competitive base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for incentive compensation. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed.
