English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Instructor (Part-Time) Anson County
Job Description
The English for Speakers of Other Languages Instructor is a part-time position located in both Anson County and Union County. Under the direction of the ESOL Director, the ESOL Instructor will provide language instruction to assist adult learners in learning and improving speaking, listening, reading, writing, and grammar skills necessary for successful integration into US culture and transition to postsecondary education and/or employment. This position will include in-person instruction.
Essential Duties Summary
โข Plan and facilitate academic and life skills lessons for adults who want to learn and improve English language skills using the NC Adult Education Content Standards and CASAS Competencies
โข Focus on increasing students' speaking, listening, reading and writing abilities
โข Communicate material in a positive and appropriate learning environment
โข Provide direct instruction, small group, and individualized educational activities as appropriate
โข Maintain required paperwork including, but not limited to, roster, attendance documents, and lesson plans
โข Communicate with both the ESOL Director and Retention and Success Coach to support student learning and outcomes
Adhere to all College and Title II-related policies and procedures
Required Qualifications
โข Bachelor's degree
โข One year teaching experience
โข Sensitivity to students with diverse backgrounds
โข Effective written and oral communication skills
โข Demonstrated ability to work positively and cooperatively with students and peers
โข Demonstrated ability to perform multi-task assignments
Preferred Qualifications
โข Master's degree in English, TOEFL or related field
โข Cross-cultural learning experience (including but not limited to study abroad, missionary trips, etc.)
โข Experience in teaching adult learners and/or in Adult Basic Skills
โข Bi-lingual
