Provide engaging, innovative college-readiness ESL instruction designed to help multilingual learners (MLL) build proficiency across reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Responsible to prepare and deliver coursework in engaging, innovative, and discipline-appropriate ways that reflect a commitment to student success and creating an environment that promotes belonging for all. This position starts in January 2027. Instruction will be delivered in person at designated ACC regions-Central, North, and South campuses-and online, as assigned. Faculty must meet all professional standards in accordance with college policies and procedures.Job Description:
Principal Responsibilities and Duties
Prepare and teach ESL language courses across all skill domains (Reading, Writing, Grammar, Listening, and Speaking) using multiple delivery modes (in-person, hybrid, online) aligned with approved learning outcomes.
Apply best practices in second-language acquisition and classroom management to build a positive, accessible, and culturally responsive learning environment that promotes retention and engagement.
Evaluate student language progress and provide clear, timely feedback reflecting program learning outcomes and departmental expectations.
Participate actively in departmental responsibilities and governance, including curriculum review/revision, program review, and course/program-level learning outcome assessments.
Design, review, and refine comprehensive ESL curricula including goal-setting, collaborating with and supporting and mentoring colleagues in effective implementation.
Evaluate the effectiveness of current language instruction practices and make data-driven adjustments to foster student success.
In collaboration with SCR teams, assist with assessment and enrollment of ESL students, providing placement, enrollment, application, proficiency/progress testing, and related support.
Serve as a mentor to new faculty in the ESL program.
Provide accessible and individualized language support, including one-on-one assistance.
Maintain attendance, grading, and Blackboard in a timely manner.
Collaborate with program leaders, faculty, and coordinators to support student achievement and transitions into college-level courses.

Remain current in the field of TESOL/ESL education through a variety of professional development activities.

1 year experience teaching varied student populations, including ESL/ELL/ESOL, K-12, adult education, and higher education.
OR At least 3 graduate hours in an appropriate education course focused on adult learners, educational psychology, teaching developmental courses, or educational methods.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree in education or related field
Experience teaching within the School of College Readiness, ENGL, INRW, ESOL, or EDUC
Reading certification such as Neuhaus, Wilson or similar
