What is ESG data?

ESG data refers to information and metrics related to a company's performance in three key areas: Environmental, Social, and Governance. This data helps investors, regulators, and other stakeholders assess how a company manages risks and opportunities related to sustainability and ethical practices. ESG data can include metrics such as carbon emissions, labor practices, board diversity, and corporate policies. It is increasingly used in investment decisions to evaluate a company's long-term value and impact.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an ESG data analyst?

To thrive as an ESG Data Analyst, you need a solid understanding of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) frameworks, strong analytical abilities, and a background in finance, data science, or a related field. Familiarity with ESG data platforms (like MSCI or Sustainalytics), data visualization tools, and proficiency in Excel or programming languages such as Python or R is typically required. Strong attention to detail, critical thinking, and effective communication skills help you interpret complex data and collaborate with stakeholders. These skills are vital for accurately assessing ESG risks and opportunities, supporting sustainability reporting, and informing responsible investment decisions.

What are the main challenges ESG data professionals face when gathering and analyzing sustainability metrics?

ESG Data professionals often encounter challenges related to data availability, consistency, and quality. Since environmental, social, and governance metrics are reported differently across industries and regions, professionals must navigate varying standards and incomplete disclosures. This requires a strong ability to validate and normalize data, collaborate with stakeholders to fill information gaps, and stay updated on evolving regulations and frameworks. Additionally, ESG Data roles frequently involve cross-functional teamwork with sustainability, compliance, and investment teams to ensure accurate integration of these metrics into decision-making processes.

Job Summary

As we scale our Responsible Business program, we're looking for an ESG & Sustainability Analyst to serve as the operational engine behind our ESG strategy - owning the data, reporting, and cross-functional coordination that turns commitments into measurable progress.

This is a highly visible, build-it-with-us role. You'll manage the day-to-day mechanics of ESG reporting and data collection across our manufacturing network, drive meaningful improvement in our EcoVadis rating, and help lead our readiness for The Climate Pledge - all while helping shape the longer-term strategy for how Responsible Business gets done. If you're energized by solving operational puzzles, building systems from scratch, and making sustainability real in a manufacturing environment, this role is for you.

What You'll Do...

ESG Data & Reporting

  • Own the collection, validation, and organization of ESG data (energy, water, waste, and greenhouse gas emissions) across production centers.
  • Build and maintain data collection systems and trackers, including utility bill data and site-level ESG KPIs, to support consistent, auditable reporting.
  • Manage Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions reporting in line with the GHG Protocol, partnering with plant teams and internal SMEs to gather and verify data.
  • Prepare recurring and ad-hoc ESG reports, briefing materials, and presentation decks for leadership, customers, and external stakeholders.

EcoVadis & Ratings Performance

  • Lead the end-to-end EcoVadis assessment process, including evidence gathering, documentation, and submission.
  • Identify and close scoring gaps across the EcoVadis pillars (Environment, Labor & Human Rights, Ethics, Sustainable Procurement) to drive year-over-year score improvement.
  • Track performance against industry peers and benchmarks, and translate ratings feedback into concrete action plans.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for ESG ratings and rankings organizations, audits, and customer sustainability questionnaires.

Climate Pledge Readiness & Strategy

  • Help build the roadmap and reporting infrastructure needed to meet Vomela's commitments under The Climate Pledge, including emissions baselining and progress tracking.
  • Support development of decarbonization initiatives and help evaluate their feasibility, cost, and impact across facilities.
  • Conduct prioritization analyses to determine which risks and opportunities matter most, and help shape the multi-year Responsible Business strategy.
  • Monitor emerging ESG regulations, disclosure frameworks, and industry trends, and translate them into practical recommendations.

Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Build strong working relationships with plant operations, procurement, finance, and HR to source accurate, timely data.
  • Respond to internal and external stakeholder requests with clear, well-organized analysis.
  • Act as a trusted advisor who can explain ESG concepts simply and drive alignment across a large, distributed manufacturing footprint.

Requirements

What You'll Bring...

  • Bachelor's in Environmental Science, Sustainability, or Engineering (a business degree with demonstrated ESG/sustainability coursework or experience also considered).
  • 2-5 years of experience in ESG, corporate sustainability, energy management, or a related analytical role; manufacturing or industrial experience strongly preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with the EcoVadis platform, GHG Protocol (Scope 1/2/3), CDP, or similar ESG reporting frameworks preferred.
  • Advanced Excel and data management skills; comfort building and maintaining trackers and databases across multiple sites.
  • Strong preference for candidates with experience in GRI, TCFD/ISSB, SASB, SBTi, and CSRD/CSDDD.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to turn messy, distributed data into clear insight.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience building executive-ready presentations.
  • A self-starter mindset - comfortable operating with ambiguity, building processes from the ground up, and managing multiple priorities.
  • Genuine enthusiasm for sustainability and Responsible Business, paired with a pragmatic, get-it-done approach

Benefits

  • Health Care Plan (Medical, Dental & Vision)
  • Retirement Plan (401k)
  • Life Insurance (Basic, Voluntary & AD&D)
  • Paid Time Off
  • Short Term & Long-Term Disability
  • Training & Development
  • Wellness Resources
