Job description

Material Planning Manager
Overview:
We're Prime Matter Labs, a personal care product manufacturer with over 35 years of experience formulating, compounding, and filling products for some of the most successful and respected brands in the world.
We exist to bring better products to the world by empowering our customers to bring their ideas to life. We strive to be their most valuable partner, delivering a level of efficiency, service, and support unmatched in the industry.
Last year, we embarked on a bold new vision to be the leading product development and production partner in the country for emerging and established brands. To realize that vision, we're investing at an unprecedented level in new technology, processes, and plans that will completely rethink the way that brands view and interact with their manufacturer. We're building the platform that will allow us to serve as the foundation of our customer's branded products, from their first sample to their million unit product run, and every step in between.
Come help us build the future of the personal care and beauty landscape, one partnership at a time.
Position Summary:
The MPM Manager owns cross-site material requirements and production planning across Prime Matter Labs' manufacturing network. Reporting to the Director, S&OP / Planning and leading a team of site-based Production & Supply Planners, this role ensures raw materials, components, and capacity are aligned to produce a reliable, achievable production plan at every facility. The MPM will also play a lead role in defining and organizing the company's transition to a new ERP/MPM platform, ensuring planning processes, data, and reporting are standardized and ready to scale across sites.
Responsibilities:
  • Lead cross-site MPM and production planning, directly managing the Production & Supply Planners at each manufacturing site (East, West, and NYC) to ensure a consistent, coordinated planning approach.
  • Own the accuracy and integrity of the Master Production Schedule at each site, ensuring alignment with the consolidated demand plan, raw-material and component availability, and equipment capacity.
  • Partner with the Director, S&OP / Planning in the monthly Sales & Operations Planning process, reconciling the network-wide demand plan with production capacity and supply constraints.
  • Standardize MPM planning parameters and best practices across all sites, including safety stock levels, reorder points, lot sizing, and lead times.
  • Help define and organize the company's ERP/MPM system transition: document current-state planning processes, define future-state requirements, and translate them into system configuration in partnership with IT and finance stakeholders.
  • Lead data readiness for the ERP/MPM transition, including item master, bill of materials, routing, and lead-time data across all sites, and coordinate data migration, testing, and validation.
  • Own user acceptance testing and training for site planners during the ERP/MPM transition, and drive adoption and change management through go-live and stabilization.
  • Coach, develop, and manage the performance of the Production & Supply Planner team across sites, setting clear expectations and providing regular feedback.
  • Monitor and report planning KPIs across the network (schedule adherence, on-time delivery, inventory turns, and plan-to-actual variance), leading root-cause analysis and corrective action.
  • Partner with purchasing to resolve material shortages and align supply commitments with the production plan, with particular attention to long-lead-time and shelf-life-sensitive raw materials and components.
  • Identify and help resolve capacity constraints across sites, prioritizing production and coordinating trade-offs with site leadership and the Director, S&OP / Planning.
  • Serve as the subject-matter expert on MPM/ERP planning logic and system configuration; troubleshoot data integrity issues and drive continuous improvement in planning accuracy.
  • Support analysis of how the long-term forecast impacts equipment capacity across the network, informing new-project site assignments and future equipment needs.
  • Ensure each site maintains a firm four-week production schedule, providing planners with the data and direction needed to hold the plan.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, operations, business, engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in production planning, materials planning, or MPM within a manufacturing environment, including 2+ years in a leadership or supervisory capacity.
  • Experience planning across multiple manufacturing sites strongly preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with ERP/MPM systems (e.g., Business Central, SAP, Oracle, NetSuite); experience leading or supporting an ERP/MPM implementation or system transition strongly preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of MPM logic, bills of materials, routings, capacity planning, and materials management principles.
  • Experience in personal care, cosmetics, CPG, nutraceutical, or other FDA-regulated contract manufacturing (CDMO) strongly preferred.
  • Proven people-management skills, with the ability to lead and develop a distributed, site-based planning team.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and align cross-functional and cross-site stakeholders.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage in a complex, fast-paced, multi-site environment.
  • APICS/ASCM certification (CPIM or CSCP) is a plus.
  • Ability to travel to Prime Matter Labs manufacturing sites (East, West, and NYC) as needed.
Benefits:
  • Competitive compensation package
  • Health, dental, and vision benefits
  • 401K program
  • The spirit of a startup with the security of an established, profitable industry leader
  • The opportunity to make waves in a $250B industry
  • Paid time off and company-observed holidays

Physical Requirements
  • Primarily office-based work environment during regular business hours.
  • Frequent use of a computer, phone, and standard office equipment.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds (files, binders, or office materials).
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and reach as needed throughout the workday.
