Job Title: Project Manager
Job Description

This Project Manager role leads construction projects from preconstruction through completion, ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, and within budget. You will manage the full project lifecycle, including scheduling, budgeting, subcontractor coordination, and client communication, while partnering closely with field operations and internal teams. Responsibilities

  • Manage all phases of construction projects from preconstruction through closeout, including scope, schedule, budget, and overall execution.
  • Develop, maintain, and update detailed project schedules, incorporating key dates for clients, materials, inspections, and subcontractors.
  • Monitor project progress and performance to ensure compliance with contract documents, specifications, and quality standards.
  • Manage project costs for labor, materials, and equipment to ensure profitability and adherence to budget targets.
  • Identify, assess, and respond to project delays, risks, and unforeseen challenges, implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Review drawings, specifications, and addenda for constructability, accuracy, and discrepancies, and communicate findings to stakeholders.
  • Participate in pre-construction and project kickoff meetings to align expectations, define deliverables, and establish communication protocols.
  • Assist with estimating activities, including quantity takeoffs, bid support, and outreach to subcontractors and vendors.
  • Support permitting and licensing processes by coordinating required documentation and working with relevant authorities.
  • Select, coordinate, and manage subcontractors and vendors with client approval, ensuring performance meets project requirements.
  • Partner with field operations to maintain schedule adherence, manage resources, and control costs throughout the project.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to field teams, helping to resolve construction issues and maintain productivity.
  • Prepare, track, and manage Requests for Information (RFIs), submittals, change orders, and project logs to ensure proper documentation.
  • Review and approve project costs, invoices, and pay applications, ensuring accuracy and alignment with contract terms.
  • Maintain accurate job cost tracking and provide regular financial updates and forecasts to internal stakeholders.
  • Support invoicing processes in coordination with internal finance teams to ensure timely and accurate billing.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, stakeholders, and project teams, ensuring responsive and professional communication.
  • Lead regular project meetings with internal and external parties, documenting decisions, action items, and progress.
  • Address and resolve design issues, conflicts, and field challenges promptly to minimize impact on schedule and budget.
  • Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with clients, subcontractors, and project partners to support repeat business.
  • Ensure all project activities prioritize safety, compliance, and adherence to company and industry standards.
Essential Skills
  • Minimum of two years of experience in construction, engineering, business, or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience as a Project Manager in construction projects.
  • Project management experience with responsibility for schedule, budget, and subcontractor coordination.
  • Strong working knowledge of generally accepted construction industry principles, practices, and conventions.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
  • Experience with RFIs, submittals, and the full change order process.
  • Proficiency in project scheduling, including creating and maintaining schedules.
  • Hands-on experience with civil projects, site development, or transportation-related work.
  • Proficiency with MS Project for scheduling and MS Excel for tracking and reporting.
  • Experience using Procore for construction project management.
  • Experience using Bluebeam for plan review and document management.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to lead meetings and coordinate with clients and project teams.
  • Ability to identify and manage project risks and resolve field and design issues promptly.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for managing documentation, costs, and schedules.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • College degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) certification.
  • Experience working on site development projects.
  • Ability to support estimating activities, including takeoffs and bid preparation.
  • Experience coordinating permitting and licensing processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with clients and project partners.
  • Interest in contributing to the growth of a small, expanding construction organization.
Work Environment

This role is based onsite at the office five days per week, with regular travel to active project sites as needed. You will work in a family-owned, growing construction firm that is steadily adding headcount and currently has around 30 employees, most of whom are field-based. The company maintains a strong backlog with 23 active projects across Massachusetts and northern Connecticut and a full project pipeline into 2027, providing stable and consistent work. The environment emphasizes close collaboration between office and field teams, direct client interaction, and hands-on involvement in project delivery. The company provides a pickup truck for work-related use. Benefits include a 401(k) plan with a 3% match, a paid shutdown during the week of July 4th, a paid shutdown during a week in December, and three weeks of paid time off in addition to those shutdown periods.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $120000.00 - $140000.00/hr.
