Job description

Evanston, United States | Posted on 08/21/2026

Main Line Talent Group (MLTG) is a boutique recruiting firm specializing in ERP talent for manufacturing and distribution companies across the US and Canada. We place direct hire and contract professionals across the full spectrum of mid-market and enterprise ERP platforms โ€” including Epicor (Kinetic, Prophet 21, Eclipse, BisTrack), Acumatica, Infor (CSI/Syteline, LN, M3, Visual), SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, Sage, and more.

Our niche focus means we understand the platforms our clients run on and the skills that actually matter, so placements move faster and fit better.

Job Description

Our client, a well-established manufacturer based in the Chicago area, is seeking an experienced Epicor System Administrator to provide advanced technical administration, security, performance, integration, and configuration support for their Epicor Kinetic environment. This is a hands-on, on-site, senior individual-contributor role within Information Technology, responsible for the technical health, security, reliability, and maintainability of the Epicor platform and its supporting environments.

The Epicor System Administrator partners closely with Manufacturing Configuration Control and functional departments. Business-process owners define operational requirements and maintain business-owned manufacturing configuration and data; this role evaluates technical impact and implements secure, supportable system solutions.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Administer Epicor Kinetic environments, including application servers, task agents, application pools, schedulers, background processes, and related system services
  • Manage the Epicor user lifecycle, security groups, menu access, field-level security, plant/site permissions, functional roles, and segregation-of-duties controls in accordance with company policy and compliance requirements
  • Plan, test, document, and execute Epicor upgrades, patches, hotfixes, environment refreshes, and deployments across development, test, and production environments using formal change-control practices
  • Develop and maintain technically appropriate Epicor solutions, including BAQs, BPMs, method and data directives, dashboards, reports, integrations, and approved customizations
  • Support SQL Server performance and reliability through query analysis, index and performance tuning, backup/restore coordination, data investigation, and troubleshooting within established IT controls
  • Monitor system performance, availability, logs, interfaces, scheduled processes, and integrations; diagnose issues and coordinate resolution with internal teams and outside support partners
  • Automate repeatable administrative and support tasks using PowerShell, SQL, Epicor tools, APIs, or other approved technologies
  • Maintain technical documentation for environments, configurations, security, interfaces, customizations, recovery procedures, change history, and support processes
  • Apply Epicor best practices for configuration, favoring standard functionality and sustainable, low-maintenance solutions over unnecessary customization
  • Provide advanced technical support, root-cause analysis, and guidance to users and functional subject-matter experts without assuming ownership of their business processes or data
Cross-Functional Partnership and Role Boundaries
  • Work with Manufacturing Configuration Control as the functional owner of manufacturing configuration, methods of manufacture, operational master data, and related manufacturing-system processes
  • Translate approved functional requirements into technical designs; advise on feasibility, security, performance, integration, testing, and long-term supportability
  • Coordinate testing and deployment with the requesting business owner; functional owners validate process requirements and business results, while IT validates technical operation, security, and system impact
  • Partner with Finance, Operations, Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, and other departments while keeping business-process decisions and transactional data ownership with the appropriate functional team
Requirements Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience
  • Five or more years of experience supporting Epicor ERP/Kinetic, including hands-on system administration in a production environment
  • Demonstrated experience with Epicor environment management, security administration, performance troubleshooting, upgrades, patches, and change control
  • At least two years of handsโ€‘on experience developing and maintaining BPMs, method/data directives, BAQs, dashboards, and SSRS reports
  • Strong SQL skills for complex data analysis, troubleshooting, and performance investigation; working knowledge of SQL Server administration and backup/recovery concepts
  • Ability to assess business requirements, explain technical tradeoffs, and deliver solutions that are secure, maintainable, and aligned with system standards
  • Strong analytical, documentation, communication, project coordination, and collaborative problemโ€‘solving skills
  • Must meet the definition of a U.S. Person in accordance with 22 CFR 120.62 (U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, asylee, or refugee)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting Epicor in an integrated manufacturing environment
  • Functional knowledge of Sales, Supply Chain, Production, Finance, MRP, BOM/MOM, scheduling, logistics, and quality modules sufficient to support integrations and troubleshoot cross-functional issues
  • Experience with PowerShell, APIs, integrations, and automated administration
  • Experience with C# and the Epicor Kinetic data model for server-side business logic and approved custom solutions
  • Experience supporting secure or regulated environments and audit-ready IT controls
  • Traditional 401(k) and Roth 401(k) with company match
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP)
  • Company-paid life, short-term disability, and long-term disability insurance
  • Paid vacation and 11 paid holidays per year
  • Salary range: commensurate with qualifications and experience
