Job Summary:

The Epic RCM and Patient Access Application Director leads the strategic execution, oversight, enhancement, implementation and optimization for all revenue cycle area application components (Patient Access, Authorizations, HIM, Professional Billing, & Hospital Billing). This Director will be responsible for providing day-to-day direction and support to staff, liaise between Leadership, IS and hospital staff, develop plans, gather projects scope requirements, design and technical documents, implementation planning, information management, coordinate with vendors, support the department and/or staff training, programs to meet the goals, objectives, and needs of the organization. The Director is responsible for translating the mission, strategic goals, and program priorities of the organization into department operations. The Director will have oversight over billing, patient, and HIM application managers and staff. Director must have a passion for change and identifying better ways to do things. Director must be an effective communicator and independent worker who will be an industry leader in changing how healthcare technology is configured, delivered, and supported.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead the strategic execution, oversight, enhancement, implementation, and optimization of all non-clinical components of Epic revenue cycle applications including HB, PB, HIM, Cadence, Prelude, and ADT
  • Proactively communicate status of key activities, risks, and issues to the project manager as needed
  • Maintaining the scope, schedule, and quality of the project of all clinical applications
  • Work closely with the CIO, Executive Director, project directors, and project managers to coordinate build/update activities
  • Ensure that the revenue cycle community is engaged in the build and maintenance of EHR activities
  • Advising and coaching team members by providing guidance on issues, key success factors of the project, and lessons learned
  • Sharing with team members the positive effects of innovation and system capabilities
  • Managing the project from an organizational perspective while attending to detailed tasks
  • Identifying and troubleshooting issues
  • Guiding workflow design, building and testing the system, and analyzing other technical issues associated with Epic Foundation and ancillary system software
  • Serving as a liaison between organizational needs and IS staff
  • Maintaining regular communication with Epic representatives, including participating in weekly project team meetings
  • Working with Epic representatives, your organization's business community, and end users to ensure the system meets the organization's business needs in regards to the project deliverables and timeline
  • Coordinates and collaborates with administrative teams, business leaders, information technology, financial services, and quality/regulatory/risk management among others in the development and configuration of technology that assist users and clinicians in their delivery of care.
  • Developing an understanding of operational needs to set the direction for the organization's workflows
  • Participating in training and working with end users
  • Reviewing the status of projects and issues on an ongoing basis with leadership
  • Holding weekly communications with team members to discuss the status of deliverables, shared issues, enduser concerns, budget, and upcoming milestones
  • Owning integrated efforts that span multiple applications such as BCA, Cutover, Meditech Financial applications
  • Assist with the IS budgeting process including operational and capital budgets

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor โ€˜s degree from an accredited college or university is required, preferably in computer science, finance, or related field, masterโ€™s degree preferred in computer science or related field.
  • Revenue cycle management, HIM, and/or billing experience as a supervisor or manager in a hospital, academic medical center, or healthcare setting.
  • Prior Epic system experience and/or certifications highly preferred.
  • Prior experience with technical support and patient health information security management around the electronic medical record health systems.
  • Documented success in addressing business needs with information management solutions and practices and leading the design, development, deployment, and support of clinical information systems.
  • Proven ability to organize and effectively manage a complex, cross-segment business change initiative.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and interpersonal effectiveness required to work collaboratively with multiple disciplines, e.g., physicians, administrative, external agencies and vendors.
  • Critical thinking, problem solving and negotiation skills.
  • Solid experience in understanding clinical workflow.
  • Organizational skills, along with attention to detail, and the ability to achieve deadlines in a complex, dynamic environment.
  • Ability to direct, educate and manage the hospital clinicians and staff.
