Familiarity with Epic modules, workflow optimization, and healthcare IT systems is typically required. Excellent communication, problem-solving abilities, and adaptability are crucial soft skills for collaborating with clinical teams and addressing user issues. These competencies enable Epic RNs to bridge the gap between clinical practice and technology, ensuring effective EHR implementation and patient care.

What are some common challenges Epic RNs face when transitioning from traditional nursing roles to working with electronic health records (EHR)?

Epic RNs often encounter challenges related to adapting their clinical workflows to align with the functionalities and limitations of the Epic EHR system. Overcoming these challenges usually involves ongoing education, peer collaboration, and leveraging available Epic training resources.

What is an Epic RN?

An Epic RN is a registered nurse who specializes in using the Epic electronic health record (EHR) system within healthcare settings. These nurses are typically responsible for implementing, optimizing, and supporting the Epic system to improve clinical workflows and patient care.
