Job description

JOB SUMMARY
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Interface Development and Maintenance:
    • Build and maintain interfaces between Epic and external systems (using HL7, X12, FHIR, etc.)
    • Monitor interface operations and proactively identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues related to message delivery, formatting, and connectivity.
    • Work closely with other Epic analysts and technology team to share configurations and support testing of the workflows.

Testing and Validation:
    • Develop and execute unit, systems, integration, and user acceptance testing (UAT) for new and modified interfaces.
    • Collaborate with engineering teams, clients, and end users to validate interface functionality, performance, and data integrity.
    • Troubleshooting discrepancies and ensuring resolution prior to go-live or deployment.

Documentation and Reporting:
  • Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation for interface builds, configurations, workflows, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Generate regular status reports, error logs, and performance metrics for internal tracking and audit purposes.
  • Ability to deliver high-quality documentation, test plans, and change control records.

System Upgrades and Projects:
  • Support all Aura integrations in addition to Epic upgrades, system migrations, or new module rollouts that involve interface changes.
  • Assess the impact of Epic system updates or regulatory changes on existing interfaces and coordinate necessary updates.
  • Contribute to strategic integration planning and roadmap development.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent in education and/or experience is required.
  • Experience:
    • 2+ years of experience supporting Epic interfaces and integration projects.
    • Applicants must be certified with Epic Bridges.
    • Certifications in additional Epic applications are preferred (Beaker, Data Courie, Aura, Care Everywhere).
    • Strong understanding of interface standards such as HL7, FHIR, API-based interoperability, and digital health workflows.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
    • Familiarity with lab workflows, especially around genetic testing and LIMS integration.
  • Preferred Skills
    • Programming experience in C# or any other programming language
    • Familiarity with REST APIs, SQL, and MongoDB.
