Registered Nurse (Oncology Clinic)

Location: Houston, TX

Pay Rate: Starting at $40.00/hour

Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday | 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM

Dean's Professional Services is seeking an experienced, compassionate, and patient-focused Registered Nurse to support a leading healthcare organization in Houston, TX. This is an excellent opportunity for an RN with strong clinical and care coordination skills to join a busy outpatient oncology clinic, providing comprehensive nursing support and education while working closely with physicians and multidisciplinary care teams.

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional nursing care for approximately 10 patients per day in an outpatient oncology clinic.
  • Triage incoming patient phone calls, assess symptoms, and provide clinical guidance based on established protocols.
  • Manage the EPIC In Basket, responding promptly to patient messages, provider requests, and clinical communications.
  • Educate patients and caregivers regarding treatment plans, medications, symptom management, and follow-up care.
  • Coordinate medication management, including prescription refills and medication reconciliation.
  • Order laboratory tests and assist with reviewing and communicating results as directed by providers.
  • Obtain and manage prior authorizations for medications, treatments, diagnostic testing, and specialty services.
  • Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Maintain accurate and timely electronic medical documentation while ensuring HIPAA compliance.
  • Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care while promoting a positive patient experience.

Qualifications

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Texas required.
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program required.
  • Previous oncology nursing experience or outpatient clinic experience preferred.
  • Experience using EPIC Electronic Medical Record (EMR) preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of medication management, patient education, triage, and care coordination.
  • Excellent communication, critical thinking, organizational, and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced outpatient clinical environment.
