Job Summary
The Senior Epic Application Analyst is responsible for advancing the functionality and operational efficiency of Information Systems utilizing their expertise in Epic Applications. This entails intermediate to advanced analysis, design, configuration and implementation. This position is responsible for ensuring integration of technology into effective workflow and process design as well as ensuring operational efficiency of assigned Epic applications and integrated technology. Provides advanced ongoing analysis, consultation, complex problem-solving, collaboration and application support to users. Also responsible for contributing to system training. The Senior Epic Application Analyst utilizes their knowledge and skills to function as a technical resource on Epic and assume higher level project responsibilities. This position typically reports to an ISD manager or above.
In this role, the Senior Epic Application Analyst operates in a fast-paced, high-demand environment supporting clinical users and Epic applications on a daily basis. Day-to-day work includes managing incoming support tickets, troubleshooting complex system issues, performing build and configuration, and testing enhancements or fixes. The analyst partners closely with clinical and operational teams to understand workflow needs, optimize system functionality, and support clinical documentation and case management processes. This role also involves working on integrations, reporting, and ongoing system improvements while balancing multiple priorities, collaborating with team members, and occasionally providing guidance or support to other analysts.Job Description

Minimum Qualifications
Education: Associates degree, preferred
Licenses/Certifications: Epic Certification required (Clin/Doc)
Experience / Knowledge / Skills:
  • Four (4) years of increasingly responsible experience in a large, corporate systems development and implementation activities in a wide variety of Healthcare Information Systems (MIS) or similar experience in system analysis, design, building, testing and implementation or a combination of MIS and working knowledge of hospital operations required
  • Industry training and increasingly responsible experience with knowledge and skills in a large, complex corporate Information System
  • Previous Epic or other Health Information Systems experience required
  • Experience in supporting complex problems
  • Experience in assisting other Analysts
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Epic application support, development tools and methodologies
  • Good analytical skills and technical aptitude
  • Good planning and organizational skills
  • Good communication, collaboration and customer service skills
  • Demonstrated pattern of growth in ability to lead others

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Systems Development
  • Translates user and department Epic system needs into technical solutions.
  • Performs project reviews and process walk throughs incorporating technical, clinical and business solutions that will enhance user user productivity and department service levels.

Technical Administration
  • Responsible for providing technical knowledge in the support of Epic as well as other software applications and operating systems.
  • Performs intermediate to advanced analysis, design, building, testing, and implementation of Epic and other computer programs and systems.
  • Demonstrates and applies information systems theory, processes and methodologies.

Technical Standards
  • Acts as an advocate for setting and enforcing technical development, application support and information management standards within and outside of the Information Systems Department.

Application Support
  • Demonstrates in-depth knowledge and techniques in supporting development projects and complex problem solving efforts involving Epic and other applications.
  • Participates in after-hours technical support by rotating call schedule on a regular basis.
  • Provides ongoing Epic support to users.

Planning & Coordinating
  • Develops, prioritizes and executes projects according to established schedules and timeframes.
  • Maintains an effective level of coordination on all assigned projects.
  • Documents and reports on all plans, priorities and schedules.
  • Informs Manager of status of all project assignments regularly

Training
  • Contributes to the preparation and delivery of training sessions for staff

Communications
  • Thinks, plans, leads and acts appropriately in tactical settings.
  • Demonstrates strong communication and interpersonal relationship skills.

Customer Service
  • Provides effective customer service by being courteous, polite and friendly toward others at
    all times.
  • Acknowledges customers immediately in order to determine need and help the customer
    resolve issue or request.

Other
  • Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.
  • Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education, skills competency, supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff.
