Description

Terraphase Engineering is seeking an Environmental Field Technician to join our growing team in our Oakland, Los Angeles or Sacramento offices. In this role, you'll work alongside experienced environmental professionals on a variety of field projects involving hazardous building materials, industrial hygiene, environmental sampling, and remediation oversight. This is an excellent opportunity to build your technical expertise while supporting meaningful projects that protect human health and the environment.

The Role

ยท Ensure Health and Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times

ยท Gain experience in environmental consulting, focusing on building related hazardous materials and industrial hygiene services, including surveys and assessments of asbestos, lead, mold, indoor air quality, and other hazardous materials, as well as industrial hygiene investigations

ยท Conduct building related environmental, indoor air quality, and health & safety assessments, as well as assist with project design and monitoring contractor activities during remediation projects. The position will focus on asbestos, lead, mold, water intrusion, and indoor air quality projects

ยท Conduct environmental site assessment sampling (air, soil, soil vapor, surface water, and groundwater)

ยท Technicians will spend the majority of their time at project sites in their respective areas and occasionally throughout California. Technicians will also prepare reports and other project documents related to field operations

ยท Maintain accurate field logs and documentation of sampling and monitoring activities

ยท Work with minimal supervision, learn quickly, and possess excellent problem-solving skills

ยท Work with project managers to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget


Who You Are

ยท ยท Cal/OSHA Certified Asbestos Consultant (CAC) or Certified Site Surveillance Technician (CSST) certification (Required)

ยท College degree (BS, MS, MPH) in a science-related field is required

ยท Energetic and interested in building science and systems as well as environmental health & safety concerns

ยท 2+ years' experience working as a hazardous building materials technician or environmental field technician

ยท OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER and 10/30-Hour Construction Safety certifications or ability to obtain

ยท CDPH Lead Inspector/Assessor or Sampling Technician or ability to obtain

ยท Worked in construction, environmental consulting, or industrial hygiene fields

ยท A valid driver's license and clean driving record

ยท Ability to work independently as well as in a team

ยท Excellent written and oral communications skills

ยท Willing to travel to perform field work

ยท Willing to perform work in "off-hours" (weekends and night work)

Compensation for this position is based on years of experience, technical expertise, technical education, and geographic location.

Pay Range
$70,000โ€”$85,000 USD
