Northern Nevada Medical Center is a 124-bed acute care hospital located on 23 hillside acres at 2375 E. Prater Way in Sparks, Nevada.

This Laboratory Manager opportunity is full time at 40 hours per week, offers full benefits and has a convenient schedule. This position will be responsible for overall operation of hospital laboratory services. Ensures that services are of the best quality, are cost efficient, and are carried out in an expeditious manner. Recognizes test results or operational problems that require referral to the clinical laboratory pathologist. Maintains performance improvement activities within the department. Helps formulate budget. Complies with all regulatory standards. Maintains effective physician and intradepartmental relations.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for departmental HR functions including interviewing, hiring, orienting, training, performance evaluations and the termination of employment
  • Coordinates improvements in laboratory reporting systems; serves as liaison with information management services as it pertains to the laboratory
  • Maintains established hospital and departmental policies, procedures and objectives; oversees the department’s continuous quality improvement, safety, environmental and infection control and compliance with requirements of accreditation and regulatory agencies
  • Establishes and monitors criteria for the immediate notification of the practitioner responsible for the patient, when critical limits of specified test results are exceeded.
