Position Summary

brandx is on the hunt for a full-time, hybrid Senior Environmental Graphic Designer to be based out of our New York office a minimum of three (3) days-a-week onsite and the flexibility to work remote for the remainder. The role calls for experience working in three-dimensional space, including environmental graphic design, signage, and wayfinding. The candidateโ€™s portfolio should demonstrate the ability to convey concepts through impactful visual design and typographic competency.

Job Responsibilities

As our team is client-facing by nature, it is critical that the candidate have excellent verbal and written communications skills, strong typographic skills, and the ability to sell a new idea. Attention to detail is a must, when developing compelling projects in the built environment, as is an extraordinary passion for collaboration with our internal design team.

Efficient time management and strong organizational skills are required to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines. The candidate must be able to work closely and collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams across brandx and HLW, third party vendors, and clients. As we have a small team, positivity is important, as well as a strong commitment to continued learning.

Responsibilities will include research, concept development, design, execution, and implementation of various types of projects for corporations and institutions, as well as project management and client interaction.

The role will require active participation and leadership in all aspects of the design process from responding to RFPs, to performing background material reviews and/or inventories of a clientโ€™s existing documentation, to design and installation oversight.


Role Qualifications

  • 7+ years of professional experience
  • 2+ years in a Senior Environmental Graphic Designer role
  • Undergraduate design degree; MFA, M.Arch or similar preferred
  • Environmental graphic design, and/or architectural design experience
  • Expertise in all industry-standard design applications, particularly Adobe Creative Suite, CADTools, and Microsoft Office; proficiency in 3D software. SignAgent, Miro, Astute Graphics, and Revit are a plus
  • Ability to develop design intent-level documentation, review shop drawings and submittals, and have a technical understanding of fabrication and installation techniques
  • Knowledge of accessibility requirements and city code/statutory standards specific to signage
  • Proficient in multitasking and managing between 4-8 projects at once
  • Creative and critical thinker who is equally collaborative and independent
  • Passionate about design, art, and architecture
  • Effective in sharing and delegating project responsibilities to maintain efficiency
  • Confident in taking ownership of projects and proactively identifying and solving problems that arise during the design process
  • An open and positive personality, with a strong desire for skill development
