This role is part of Alcon's Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) function, a team dedicated to advancing a strong culture of safety, environmental stewardship, and regulatory compliance across operations to protect employees, communities, and the environment.

The Sr. Associate, Health, Safety & Environment is responsible for supporting and executing health, safety, and environmental programs that promote a safe, compliant, and sustainable workplace. This role manages complex HSE activities including risk assessments, incident investigations, regulatory compliance support, and implementation of safety and environmental initiatives. The position requires strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, along with the ability to collaborate effectively with crossfunctional teams.

Specifics include:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain health, safety, environmental, and emergency response programs to prevent injuries, illnesses, and environmental incidents

  • Conduct risk assessments, inspections, and internal reviews to identify hazards, ensure compliance, and drive continuous improvement through corrective action plans

  • Lead and support incident and environmental investigations, including root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions, and OSHA injury and illness recordkeeping

  • Serve as a regulatory subject matter expert in at least one HSE discipline, interpreting and implementing applicable OSHA, EPA, and environmental permit requirements (air, water, waste)

  • Ensure compliance with internal HSE policies, external regulations, permits, and standards; maintain readiness for audits and regulatory inspections

  • Support and continuously improve the HSE Management System, including programs such as Risk Management, Contractor Safety, Chemical Safety, Industrial Hygiene, and Environmental Compliance

  • Develop, coordinate, and oversee HSE training programs and sitewide engagement initiatives for associates and contractors

  • Partner with engineering and project teams to integrate safety throughout the project lifecycle, including design, procurement, construction, and process safety

  • Manage environmental programs including waste, recycling, hazardous materials handling, spill prevention, and environmental impact management

  • Support deployment and effective use of HSE systems, tools, documentation, reporting, and required metrics

  • Act as an HSE advisor to site leadership, Global HSE, and business partners, providing consultation and datadriven recommendations

  • Maintain effective relationships with regulatory agencies, community stakeholders, and other parties impacted by site environmental performance

  • Promote a strong HSE culture through active participation in safety, wellness, and Incident Management (AIM) activities

WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO ALCON:

  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +10 yrs; Assoc.+6 yrs; M.S.+0 yrs)

  • The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English

  • 2 Years of Relevant Experience

  • Work Hours: 40 hours per week: Typically aligned with normal business hours, with some flexibility required as business needs evolve.

  • Travel Requirements: 0 to 5%

  • Location: Onsite

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience in manufacturing, laboratories, or regulated environments

  • Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other applicable HSE regulations

  • Experience supporting audits, inspections, or regulatory compliance activities

  • Professional HSE certification (e.g., CSP, ASP, CIH) or progress toward certification
