Job description

JOB TITLE: Research & Development Engineer
LOCATION: Minneapolis, MN
PAY RATE: $55.28/hour

We are a national aerospace and defense staffing agency seeking highly qualified candidates for a position with a top-tier client.

Job Details:

  • Job Type: Contract (6 months with potential for extension)

Qualifying Questions:

  • Are you a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or protected individual) as defined under ITAR regulations?

  • Do you meet the educational and experience requirements for this role?

Summary: 

  • Evaluates designs for manufacturability improvements and implements changes to enhance product capability.

  • Develops robust manufacturing processes that drive product and business goals.

  • Tests products and pulls data for analysis, then publishes results and conclusions.

  • Performs failure analysis using formal processes and communicates results.

  • Creates and maintains technical documentation for manufacturing processes.

  • Uses statistical process control and data analysis tools including MiniTab, Access, and MS Office Suite.

  • Applies Six Sigma methodologies and tools for process improvement.

  • Conducts process development and process improvement for prototype and product builds.

  • Performs root cause analysis and corrective action for manufacturing issues.

  • Trains factory personnel as part of transition activities for new processes.

Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. Person (as defined by ITAR).

  • Degree in Engineering (Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering).

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen due to program security requirements.

  • Must have the ability to obtain a Secret clearance.

  • 1.5 years of professional experience in manufacturing engineering or related field.

  • Experience evaluating designs for manufacturability improvements and implementing changes.

  • Experience with data analysis using MiniTab, Access, and MS Office Suite.

  • Experience performing failure analysis and root cause analysis using formal processes.

  • Experience developing and documenting manufacturing processes.

  • Preferred: Experience with inertial instruments and Six Sigma certification.
