Job Summary
Student position supports the operations of the Campus Safety Office by greeting visitors, answering non-emergency phone lines to give information about Campus Safety services, performing "courier" activities, transporting sensitive materials between campus venues, patrols parking areas on campus by foot to ensure compliance with vehicle regulations, issues UP citation as needed. Inputs information into appropriate databases regarding activities. Prints and issues new ID cards for UP students and staff as per established protocols. Assists campus safety officers, dispatchers and administrators with general office duties and functions as needed. Inspects fire extinguishers and inventories lost & found, registers bicycles.
Core Duties
  • Patrolling parking areas by foot to ensure compliance with applicable regulations, issuing citations as needed (~20%)
  • Handling inquiries from the public, by phone or in person regarding campus safety services (~40%)
  • Data Entry (~15%)
  • Printing and issuing identification cards and parking permits (~15%)
  • Courier and escort functions (~5%)
  • Miscellaneous Support Duties (checking phones, washing patrol cars, etc.) (~5%)
  • Other relevant duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
  • Basic computer literacy (Microsoft Office Suite)
  • Available during business hours, TBD (Negotiable)
  • Customer Service Skills
  • Available Monday-Friday between 9am and 4pm.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience dealing with the public
  • Typing speed ~35 WPM
  • Interest in security, emergency management or emergency communications
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to walk or stand for extended periods
  • Ability to sit at a desk for extended periods
