What is an entry printing job?

Entry Printing jobs typically involve operating basic printing equipment, preparing print materials, and assisting with the setup and maintenance of print jobs. These roles are often considered entry-level positions in the printing industry, providing on-the-job training and opportunities to learn about different printing techniques and machinery. Responsibilities may include loading paper, maintaining supplies, monitoring print quality, and performing minor troubleshooting. Entry Printing jobs are a good way to gain hands-on experience and advance to more technical roles in printing and production.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as an entry printing operator?

To thrive as an Entry Printing Operator, you need attention to detail, basic mechanical aptitude, and at least a high school diploma or equivalent. These skills are crucial for maintaining print quality, meeting production deadlines, and supporting overall team efficiency.

What are common challenges faced by entry-level printing professionals and how can they be addressed?

Entry-level printing professionals often encounter challenges such as learning to operate various types of printers and finishing equipment, managing multiple print jobs with tight deadlines, and ensuring high-quality output with minimal errors. Adapting to fast-paced environments and understanding technical specifications can take time. To overcome these challenges, new employees should actively seek training opportunities, ask questions, and familiarize themselves with standard printing workflows and maintenance procedures. Working closely with experienced team members and following established quality control processes can also help build confidence and proficiency in the role.

  • Partner with managers and the team on inventory needs, stock checks, and order tracking to ensure installations are staged and scheduled on time

What You'll Bring

  • High School Diploma required (Associate's degree preferred)
  • 2–5 years of experience in data entry and/or order processing
  • Experience working in order management systems and processing workflows
  • Ability to read and interpret flooring job takeoffs (diagrams) and convert them into accurate sales orders
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with a team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams
  • Comfort working with ERP and order processing systems (NetSuite, RollMaster, SAP, or similar)
  • Ability to operate basic office equipment (printer, copier, scanner, etc.)
