Five Points Shop & Field Office (approx. 45 miles SW of Fresno, CA).
Department:
Civil Maintenance Department.
Salary: $58,080 - $64,044 annually.

About Us:
Westlands Water District is seeking dedicated Operations and Maintenance Trainee to join our team in providing reliable water supply services.
Work Schedule:
  • Standard Hours: 7:00 a.m. โ€“ 3:30 p.m.
  • Summer Hours: 6:00 a.m. โ€“ 2:30 p.m.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) and One year of experience in industrial repair, scheduling, storekeeping, general maintenance, mechanical maintenance, or construction.
  • Valid California Class C Driverโ€™s License. Depending on assignment, the selected candidate may be required to obtain and maintain a valid Class A Driverโ€™s License with air brake endorsement may be required.
  • Ability to lift 100 pounds, climb stationary ladders, and work in confined spaces.
  • Ability to utilize a respirator during job duties or under emergency circumstances. Incumbents required to wear a tight-fitting respirator must be clean shaven in areas where the respirator seal contacts the face to ensure compliance with applicable respiratory protection standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • The Operations & Maintenance Trainee is an entry level classification that will receive training and experience in the performance of a variety of duties in the Civil Maintenance Department.
  • The duties of the Operations & Maintenance Trainee include, but are not limited to, performing civil maintenance, constructs, maintains, and repairs roads and right-of-way, above ground and underground piping, valves, meters, concrete structures, canals, and related water distribution and drainage facilities including excavating, repairing, and replacing concrete, transite, steel, and plastic pipelines, and repairs and replaces air relief butterfly, check gate, and slide gate valves.
