Job description

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop, edit, and maintain technical documentation, including plans, reports, procedures, guides, and troubleshooting documentation.
  • Support the development and update of Systems Administration and Troubleshooting Guides (SAMTGs) and other technical documentation for supported service areas including:
    • Unix/Linux
    • VMware
    • Backup and Archiving
    • Messaging
    • Network Management
  • Assist with development and formatting of the Transition-In Plan, Transition-Out Plan, Project Management Plan, Periodic Status Reports, and Quarterly Status Reports.
  • Coordinate with technical staff to gather, organize, and validate system administration steps, troubleshooting guidance, implementation details, and operational procedures.
  • Ensure documentation reflects current configurations, processes, and approved operational practices.
  • Support updates to configuration management documentation, AAA guides, access control guides, and hardware/software maintenance guides required under Network Management Support Services.
  • Support documentation of database deliverables, including design documents, implementation plans, test plans/cases, deployment checklists, rollback plans, and weekly status reporting as needed.
  • Maintain version control, document consistency, and alignment with customer formatting expectations and documentation standards.
  • Assist program and technical leads with preparing written updates for both management and technical stakeholders.
  • Ensure deliverables are completed in accordance with required due dates and review/comment cycles.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience writing and editing technical documents, reports, procedures, and system documentation in an IT environment.
  • Experience coordinating with engineers, administrators, and project leadership to translate technical content into clear written deliverables.
  • Ability to organize complex technical information into structured, accurate, user-friendly documentation.
  • Strong writing, editing, formatting, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple deliverables and deadlines in a task-order or project-based environment.
  • Bachelor’s Degree with 1–2 years of experience with strong writing/formatting skills and some exposure to technical or IT documentation, or High School Diploma/GED with 2–4 years of direct relevant experience
  • Active or must be able to obtain Public Trust

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience supporting federal IT or infrastructure operations contracts.

  • Experience in preparing technical operations documentation such as runbooks, SOPs, administration guides, troubleshooting guides, and status reports.

  • Experience supporting documentation for server, database, messaging, backup, or network environments.

  • Familiarity with change-controlled documentation and contract deliverables.

WAGE INFORMATION

Target salary range: $59,000.00 - $66,000.00.  The salary range displayed is an estimate only and is not a guarantee of compensation or salary and will be determined on several factors regarding the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies and experience, as well as contract parameters and organizational requirements.  The displayed salary is one component of the total compensation package for employees.
