POSITION CONCEPT:ย 
This entry level engineer position works under close supervision; receives specific and detailed instructions as to required tasks and results expected; performs a variety of routine tasks which provide experience and familiarity with the engineering staff, methods, practices, procedures and programs of the company. ย Emphasis for this position is on structural steel and concrete engineering, analysis and design.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

-Provide project engineering support on assigned projects and provide technical support to the Engineering & Project Management team as required. ย Assist in monitoring ongoing work activities to confirm manufacturer/fabricator compliance to project plans, specifications and monitor/enforces compliance to all regulatory requirements.ย 

-Assist in coordination of work with E&PM Construction, plant outage coordinators, station planners and on-site and off-site contractors.ย 

-Assist in coordination of Tampa Electric comments to consulting engineer and supplier documents.ย 

-Assist E&PM engineering and construction personnel in developing Scope of Works, project schedules, and cost estimates.

-Schedule and facilitate project team meetings/conference calls to maintain project schedules and costs.

-Supports Energy Supply power plants in identifying and solving O&M problems. ย Augment plant staff when needed to meet day-to-day and outage requirements.

-Perform any other task as assigned by the Lead Civil/Structural Engineer.ย 


LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:
Preferred: FE or ability to obtain FE within 1 year of employment. ย 

EDUCATION:
Required: Bachelors in civil/structural engineering from an accredited college

EXPERIENCE:
Required:ย 
Eng Associate: None
Engineer I: Minimum of 18 months year of work experience related to the Duties & Responsibilities of this position in the area of power plant engineering or 12 months with FE.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Required: Contributes to team effort by collaboration and accomplishments. ย Working knowledge of structural steel and concrete analysis and design, and civil design related training and experience. ย Proficient experience with Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, Power Point

Preferred: Software programs such as STAADD and MathCAD. Familiar with AISC Steel Construction Manual, ย ACI 318, ASCE 7, IBC, and OSHA. Proficient experience with manual drafting skills, and knowledge of CAD software such as AutoCAD. ย Demonstrated assignment and schedule adaptability (flexibility). ย High ownership, self-motivated and personal accountability.

WORKING CONDITIONSย 
Travel - Up to 10%, overnight and extended assignments possible. ย Travel from home office to TEC's Big Bend, Bayside and Polk Power Stations expected and could be frequent.ย 
Working outdoors in hot, humid, wet and/or cold conditions 25% to 50% of the work day.
Working in a Power Generation facility up to 25% to 50% of the work day.
Working conditions could include areas of elevated noise (hearing protection required).
Working some overtime (nights, weekends and holidays).


PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ REQUIREMENTSย 
Walking, bending, climbing 25% to 50% of the work day.
Sitting at a desk / computer workstation up to 50% of the work day.
This position requires climbing stairs and scaffolding, utilizing safety harnesses, respiratory protection and other PPE required by the work environment and in accordance with OSHA requirements.
Accessing power plant areas up to 500 feet above ground.
Ability to stand and walk for extended period of time
Working in noise, dust and high humidity areas while utilizing Personnel Protection Equipment. ย Flexibility to crawl in and out of tight confined areas.
