Job Summary:ย 

HonorBridge is recruiting for a Materials Control Technician. This is a great entry level opportunity with opportunity to make a big impact! The Materials Control Technician maintains an adequate inventory of preservation and tissue supplies and instruments. Cleans, prepares, and sterilizes preservation and tissue department instruments and equipment.ย  Monitors and maintains laboratory equipment including freezers, refrigerators and sterilizer.ย  Assists with facilities management as directed.

Shift Hours:ย This is a weekend mid shift position. The hours are 2:00pm to 2:30am, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.ย ย

Maintains appropriate inventory for preservation and tissue departments in a manner that promotes the successful recovery of organs and tissues for transplantation.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of AATB, FDA, and UNOS and other pertinent regulations
  • Orders supplies and notifies appropriate manager in a timely manner of any supply issues
  • Coordinates with Preservation Manager or designee to order organ preservation supplies in all HonorBridge locations
  • Ensures a First-In-First-Out method of stock rotation
  • Retains necessary documentation associated with inventory
  • Inspects and quarantines incoming supplies prior to release to inventory
  • Serves as first point of contact for all UPS, FedEx, and other deliveries
  • Assures cost effectiveness for all ordered materials
  • Demonstrates strong organizational skills

Sterilizes preservation and tissue instruments according to HonorBridge Policy.

  • Follows universal precautions
  • Inspects instruments for proper function and notifies management of defects
  • Works with management to maintain a supply of working instruments
  • Prepares instruments for sterilization
  • Operates sterilizers within manufacturers recommendations, including calibration
  • Schedules preventative maintenance per manufacturers instructions for sterilizer, including calibration
  • Maintains separate inventory lists of Preservation and Tissue instruments, and ensures adequate supplies of each

Record Keeping

  • Handles all Purchase Orders associated with recovery supplies
  • Verifies receipt information to Accounts Payable
  • Submits receipts and packing slips to Accounts Payable weekly
  • Maintains records of all reagents and supplies, including type, manufacturer, lot number, date received, and expiration date via BTM software

Maintains clean and organized supply areas to allow for efficiency when TDC/PC prepare for clinical cases

Maintains Chapel Hill office building and equipment

  • Coordinates equipment repairs/replacement as directed by management
  • Assists with routine maintenance and coordinating repairs as directed by management
  • Maintains documentation of periodic cleanings outlined in HonorBridge Policy
  • Maintains Sterile Processing Area cleaning log per HonorBridge Policy

Assists with audits and inspections

Participates in Quality Improvement initiatives as appropriate

Other duties as assigned by the Manager of Materials Control/Facilities or other designee
