They are responsible for writing, testing, and maintaining code under the supervision of more experienced engineers. These roles often focus on learning company-specific tools, frameworks, and best practices while contributing to small tasks or projects. Entry level software engineers usually work as part of a team and are mentored to help them grow their technical and professional skills.

What are the typical responsibilities of an entry level software engineer?

In your first year as an entry level software engineer, you can expect to work on tasks such as fixing bugs, writing and testing code under supervision, and assisting with documentation. You'll often participate in code reviews, learn about the company’s tech stack, and collaborate closely with senior engineers and other team members. Gaining experience through personal projects, internships, coding bootcamps, or online courses can help demonstrate your skills to employers. Building a strong portfolio and preparing for technical interviews are also important steps in securing an entry level role.
