The base salary range for this position is dependent upon experience and location, ranging from: $98,000- $105,000

Qualifications:

Education:Bachelor's Degree

Experience: 2 Years (minimum)

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline, is required.

Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of industry experience related to electrical or power systems engineering.

Job Summary:

Avangrid is seeking a motivated electrical engineer to join our dynamic team in identifying and developing transmission system investments that will modernize the electric grid and support the ongoing clean energy transition. As an Engineer, your primary responsibilities will include playing a primary role in performing power system studies including modeling, simulations, and analyses to address system needs and support the company's strategic vision.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Perform and collaborate on power system studies (steady-state, stability, short-circuit, transfer limit, PV/QC, etc.) using industry-standard software tools such as PSS/E, ASPEN, and TARA.
  • Use of verbal and written communication capabilities to inform and influence internal and external stakeholders.
  • Work individually, or under the guidance of manager/senior staff, to perform the scoping, analysis, and quality assurance of technical studies. Be accountable for the quality and timing of deliverables.
  • Analyze and assess transmission systems at numerous voltage levels. Clearly document and communicate results and recommendations, as appropriate, including data representation, report writing, and developing/delivering presentations.
  • Take advantage of company-sponsored training opportunities to develop technical and personal capabilities.
  • Take initiative to identify opportunities for process improvement and drive change. Document best practices to encourage consistency and ensure knowledge transfer.
  • Assists during storm restoration as assigned.

Technical Skills and Requirements:

The following skills and associated competency levels are desired of candidates seeking a position in Transmission Planning. However, applicable industry and other relevant technical skills will be considered for candidates without previous direct utility and/or system planning experience.

Technical Skills/Competencies

  • Software Proficiency: Basic capability with steady state power system modeling and simulation software (e.g., TARA, PSS/E, PowerWorld, PSLF, etc.). Additional consideration given to experience with a dynamic stability, short circuit, PV/QV, transfer limit analyses and software.
  • Regulatory and Compliance Knowledge: Familiarity with Local, State, Regional, and Federal regulatory standards, processes, and requirements. Ability to comprehend regulatory processes/requirements and formulate an action plan to achieve results and ensure compliance.
  • Teamwork: Capable of working efficiently and collaboratively within a team towards a shared goal. Adapt to changing scenarios and assumptions to support fellow team members.
  • Communicating/Influencing & Engineering Documentation: Understanding and conveying ideas clearly and convincingly. Includes Written, Verbal, Presentation Development. Ability to adequately document and interpret engineering documentation.
  • Project Development: Basic understanding of the various considerations that relate to the scoping and development of preliminary project proposals.
