Job description

Who We Are

At Encore Fire Protection, we are proud to be the east coast's largest full-service fire protection company, serving over 90,000 customers from Maine to Louisiana. With a team of over 2,200 dedicated employees, we provide innovative, customized fire suppression, fire sprinkler, and fire alarm solutions that protect lives and properties every day.

Our goal is to deliver superior experience to those who trust us to safeguard what matters most. We are passionate about continuous growth, innovation, and maintaining a culture that thrives on success and commitment to safety. Our mission? To be the best fire protection company the industry has ever seen.

The Opportunity

As a Fire Alarm Installation Technician, you will play a key hands-on role in installing, assembling, and maintaining fire alarm systems across commercial and industrial job sites.

You will work as part of a skilled team where craftsmanship, safety, and code compliance all matter. If you take pride in quality work, enjoy mechanical tasks, and want a career that keeps you learning and moving, this role is an excellent fit.

Key Responsibilities

Most days, you are turning blueprints, conduit, and components into working fire alarm systems that people count on but hope they never need. You move between layout, installation, problem solving, and testing, keeping safety, quality, and code in view while the job keeps moving. On a typical project, you will:

  • Install, maintain, inspect, repair, and test fire alarm control panels, initiating devices, notification appliances, suppression release modules, and related components.
  • Select the proper wire gauge, conduit type, devices, and equipment based on project specifications and applicable NFPA codes.
  • Inspect work sites to identify obstacles and ensure installations do not compromise structural integrity or violate code clearance requirements.
  • Coordinate installation and repair work to avoid interference with other trades on site.
  • Run conduit, pull wire, terminate devices, and assemble control panel connections across low-voltage and 120V circuits.
  • Secure conduit, cable trays, and wiring using appropriate supports, straps, and fasteners per manufacturer specs and code.
  • Program, commission, and test systems to verify full operational performance including point-to-point verification and cause-and-effect testing.
  • Follow company safety standards, OSHA requirements, and jobsite rules at all times.
  • Maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment in good working condition.
  • Work at heights using ladders, lifts, and scaffolding and lift up to 100 pounds as needed.
  • Travel overnight when required for specific projects.
What You Bring to the Table
    • High school diploma or GED required, with technical or industry related experience preferred
    • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel within your assigned territory
    • Strong understanding of NFPA 72, NEC, OSHA regulations, and fire alarm system theory
    • Hands-on experience working with fire alarm systems from major manufacturers such as Notifier, Siemens, Edwards, Simplex, Fire Lite, Gamewell FCI, and Honeywell
    • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work through issues methodically
    • Strong communication skills for interacting with customers, contractors, and internal teams
    • Ability to work independently, manage multiple service assignments, and prioritize your day
    • A professional, team-oriented mindset and commitment to customer service excellence

    What Makes You Stand Out

    • You have three or more years of experience inspecting, servicing, or repairing fire alarm systems.
    • You have NICET certification in Fire Alarm.
    • You have experience supporting both service and small project work, not just one or the other.
    • You have helped mentor or support apprentices or less experienced technicians in the field.
    • You have worked across multiple manufacturers and are comfortable adapting to different panels and devices.
    • You are known for clean, complete documentation, and for keeping customers informed without being prompted.
Beyond the Paycheck

At Encore, we're all about creating a culture where success is celebrated. We recognize that our work makes people's lives safer, and we reward those who contribute to our growth. Here's what you can expect:

  • Competitive Pay: Hourly rate based on experience with a performance-based bonus opportunity.
  • Tuition Assistance: Paid tuition for fire protection-related schooling needed to obtain licensing.
  • Purpose-Driven Work Environment: We believe in working smarter, not harder. You'll be part of a culture that values results, and we empower our team to focus on impactful work.

  • People-Focused Culture: We know our greatest strength is our people. That's why we've built a culture that encourages experimentation, learning, and improving together. You'll have the space to share your ideas and help shape a company that is constantly growing.
  • Tools for Success: Access to leading-edge web-based productivity tools.
  • Health and Wellness: Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage to keep you and your family healthy.
  • Retirement Planning: Participation in our Fidelity 401(k) plan with a company match, helping you save for your future.
  • Life Insurance: Company-paid life insurance policy of $50,000 to give you peace of mind.
