Experienced Fire Alarm Technician

About AK Security Alarm

AK Security Alarm is hiring an experienced Fire Alarm Technician for work throughout the Riverside area and surrounding locations.

We are looking for someone with real hands-on fire alarm experience who can step onto a jobsite, understand the system, troubleshoot problems, and complete quality work without constant supervision.

This is not an entry-level position. Fire alarm experience is required.

Responsibilities

  • Install, service, troubleshoot, inspect, and maintain commercial fire alarm systems
  • Perform fire alarm system testing and inspections
  • Troubleshoot SLCs, NACs, devices, modules, relays, power supplies, panels, and communication issues
  • Install and terminate fire alarm cable, devices, modules, panels, and related equipment
  • Read and understand fire alarm plans, riser diagrams, wiring diagrams, and construction drawings
  • Perform system modifications, additions, upgrades, and repairs
  • Diagnose system faults and determine appropriate corrective action
  • Assist with programming, commissioning, and system startup based on experience
  • Complete service reports and required job documentation
  • Coordinate professionally with customers, project managers, inspectors, general contractors, and other trades
  • Maintain a clean and safe jobsite
  • Follow applicable NFPA standards, NEC requirements, manufacturer specifications, and local codes

Requirements

  • Previous professional fire alarm experience
  • Strong troubleshooting skills
  • Experience installing and servicing commercial fire alarm systems
  • Ability to read fire alarm drawings and wiring diagrams
  • Understanding of initiating devices, notification appliances, modules, relays, circuits, and control equipment
  • Ability to use meters and standard fire alarm testing equipment
  • Must have your own hand tools and standard technician tools
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Must be willing and able to travel to jobsites throughout the Riverside area and surrounding regions
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong communication and customer-service skills
  • Reliable, punctual, and professional
  • Ability to safely use ladders and standard construction equipment

  • Experience troubleshooting existing and legacy fire alarm systems
  • Additional low-voltage, security, access control, or CCTV experience

Compensation

Hourly position.

Hourly rate will be based on fire alarm experience, certifications, licensing, programming ability, and overall technical skill.

Experienced technicians who can independently troubleshoot, program, commission, and manage work in the field will be considered at the higher end of the pay range.
